I got this Marvel Secret Wars Tower of Doom set off eBay for $25 shipped. The best part was that the box was never opened. So I got to rip into a 24 year old toy. While it's not the largest playset ever made, it's really cool for what it is. I plan on using it in conjunction with other sets. Here are some pics . . .

For all the dio artists out there: PLEASE tell me you scanned those decals before applying...

Yah, I've got two and I loves 'em both. It's a great piece, altho I've always felt it should work as a security gate in a narrow ravine. It's just weird as a stand-alone piece with nothing to either side.

Whatever you do, don't turn it upside down if you've got something stashed in the secret compartment. It's a biatch to get it back out, lol.

Wow, you got a great deal on that, especially with it being sealed. It looks like it would work well with any figures, but I bet it's going to be awesome with the Hasbro Marvel line.

You know he didn't, he "just" couldn't wait to put it together :-P

Nice find, congrats. ;-)

Macrossmaster- Sorry, man, that didn't even cross my mind. Though I don't own a scanner.

AdrienVeidt- I was thinking of using this as an add on to some other set. And I'll try to remember not to turn it upside down.

danielb- I'll have to snap some pics with figures around it. Actually my son has a few Indy figures in it now.

MUNDO- Funny part was I didn't realize it was sealed when I purchased it. That was a nice surprise.

J- Thanks, brother. I think it was well worth the money- given the prices of some of the sets out today.

I've often thought of picking one of these up, but balked due to space issues. What's the footprint of this thing?

It's small- like 10"X6".

Ahh, that brings back many fond memories. Used to use this thing at my Great Grandmother's house for a while, then it wound up traveling with me two both of my grandparents house. This baby wound up being the site of much action in those car rides. As I recall, Lord Dredd used to hang out a lot there as well.

Yah, Darko, space shouldn't be the factor that makes you pass this up. While it's 3 levels tall (only two if you take the gunner's station off - which I've always wondered, is it meant to fly?), it's got the square area of like a HISS II, DEMON (in raised position), or Parasite.

Probably my favorite non 1:18th scale playset to use with 1:18th scale figures, that and the Sarriors Cobra base, love em both. Great find on it being sealed though that is cool.
