Does anyone on here have a nice collection of complete Army Builders? Would you be willing to take a picture of them so I can use them in this months JoeCanuck.com newsletter??.... You'll get the credit for them coming from your collection.

PM me if you can help.

Thanks!
Mike

PS - The image MUST be from your own collection. Please don't send me someone else's collection. :-/

100 Imperial Guards (not all shown with their silly flags, but they do have Marauder weapons)

Is it just me, or has army building really scaled down in recent years? While I know that my own personal army building has slowed down to a crawl, I also note that I don't see it being debated as much online, or see everybody posting their massive armies. Either that or I myself am just not paying as much attention any more, even though I still love looking at other folks' set ups. I don't really have any nice looking pics of my stuff handy right now (nor do I have that kind of army built up, either).

A solid hundred Imperial Guards is pretty impressive looking.

wow Pat, you really love imperial guards!

And I tend to agree with bearcatcc but I'd venture to say it's lack of distriubution preventing collectors from collecting those massive armies. At least where I am the big box stores receive 1 box of a wave weeks (sometimes months) apart. That just doesn't work for the collector who's only other option is to turn to the secondary market and pay those mark-up prices.

I don't know what the article is about in next month's newsletter but I'm looking forward to it now!

It's easy when the Procession packs were clearanced for $4.00/ea on Amazon with free shipping :-D

I may also have 100 of the Troop Builder 6-pack BATs soon...

I know for me the army building instinct has evolved from a "gotta have the biggest" compulsion to a more obsessive "gotta have them balanced and structured" kind of thing.

When the 25th figures came out, I knew right away I was done buying/collecting/customizing new sculpts. But I had more than 25 each of the Vipers, BATs and blushirts, plus about a dozen each of the environmentally/technically specialized troops. I know that's not a huge army by the standards of some of the old school builders, but when O started selling them off -- limiting myself to keeping only as many of each as I could realistically use in my dios -- I realized how unnecessary those extras were.

I currently build squads of five, plus squad leaders and one each of the technical specialists ( Televipers, etc.) per squad. I keep to just one squad for the environmental troops and do two for the backbone builders (Vipers, BATs, blueshirts). And even this feels like a lot when I get them out all at once).

I don't see how folks can claim distribution is hindering their building habits. Based just on the stores I visited this past weekend, I could double my Viper and Blueshirt forces in a single day. Aren't these figures warming pegs everywhere?

I would still do unspeakable things for 25A BATs.... and I still have zero.

i'd have to agree, mainly b/c it's not as cheap to do any more. plus people who didn't want to go the vintage route piled on with the easy army building from the VvsV line, and that took a lot of the "fun" out of it. that, and people ran out of cheap bookshelves ;)

I hope it isn't the guy many many members of this board ridiculed last year when he came out of seclusion to show his 1000 man cobra army, lol.
