So after placing an order for available figures, and not getting notice of it being shipped for 12 freaking days, I put in a cancellation request and was told that it had "entered the shipping process" via an email sent Monday, August 18, 2008 7:24 PM (I sent the email to request cancellation on Sunday). Then the next day I get an email from them Tuesday, August 19, 2008 8:20 AM saying that my order placed waaaaaay back on 8/5/2008 10:41 AM was shipped.
I'm gonna stick up for HTS for the reasons already cited (expected ship date field).
As for the email - their FAQ says that emails can take two days to respond. That's why I canceled a shipment over the phone, and then when it was still in my account as an active order, I sent an email.
Granted, the email took more than two days to respond to, and by then I had already called them again on another matter.
Still, all in all, I got everything worked out with relatively little hassle by following their guidelines and using the phone.
My gripe is all this stuff took a lot more effort than the internet has conditioned me to expect (we're talking like less than 10 total orders ever from HTS and all this activity in the last couple of weeks) when probably there's a more automated way to change orders in real time. I can imagine that Hasbro does this, however, possibly because they're afraid of getting rooked by constant order changes by fickle toy collectors.
I'm probably just happy because I wound up getting silver PDD and Black CC as well as Snow Serps, so they've treated me all right. Can't complain with that haul for retail.
