So after placing an order for available figures, and not getting notice of it being shipped for 12 freaking days, I put in a cancellation request and was told that it had "entered the shipping process" via an email sent Monday, August 18, 2008 7:24 PM (I sent the email to request cancellation on Sunday). Then the next day I get an email from them Tuesday, August 19, 2008 8:20 AM saying that my order placed waaaaaay back on 8/5/2008 10:41 AM was shipped.

Why the discrepancy and why the #*()$ would it take them two weeks to ship something that was listed as "in stock"? Something may not have truly been "in stock" despite them saying otherwise.

Either way, this box is getting returned. Seriously though, two weeks?!?!?

The only excuse I can think of is if it was an "in-stock: pre-order" rather than an actual "in-stock" item.

Basically anything you can put in your cart has the status of "in-stock", but some items have different shipping dates, based on whether it is actually in stock at that moment, or expected in stock and they are taking pre-orders for it. It's listed under the "Availability" section.

For example:

If you ordered an SDCC Combat Heroes Snake Eyes and Timber pack.
It is currently listed as In-Stock, and says it "usually ships within 1 business day".

http://www.hasbrotoyshop.com/ProductsByBrand.htm?BR=520&ST=SO&ID=22417&PG=1

However if you placed an order for the Cloverfield Monster, it is listed as In-Stock, but it says "This product will begin shipping on or about 09/30".

http://www.hasbrotoyshop.com/ProductsByCategory.htm?CD=96&ST=SO&ID=21030&PG=1

That's the only legitimate excuse I can think of, for that long of a delay.
If it was listed as In-Stock with a current availability, and said it was suppose to ship within 1 business day, then there is really no good excuse for that long of a delay.

Apparently I've been hearing HTS is lieing quite a bit here. I read over at another site where a guy called in to them with the date code on an item he saw on Ebay, PPD's in a box, and they said that it wasn't the date code and basically told him he didn't have to worry about it. They lied to the guy cause it was a real date code, and they didn't want to give him info on the item.

I'm gonna stick up for HTS for the reasons already cited (expected ship date field).

As for the email - their FAQ says that emails can take two days to respond. That's why I canceled a shipment over the phone, and then when it was still in my account as an active order, I sent an email.

Granted, the email took more than two days to respond to, and by then I had already called them again on another matter.

Still, all in all, I got everything worked out with relatively little hassle by following their guidelines and using the phone.

My gripe is all this stuff took a lot more effort than the internet has conditioned me to expect (we're talking like less than 10 total orders ever from HTS and all this activity in the last couple of weeks) when probably there's a more automated way to change orders in real time. I can imagine that Hasbro does this, however, possibly because they're afraid of getting rooked by constant order changes by fickle toy collectors.

I'm probably just happy because I wound up getting silver PDD and Black CC as well as Snow Serps, so they've treated me all right. Can't complain with that haul for retail.

Seriously, date code? This may be asking too much of customer service.

If the date code in question is to be belived then they were still producing SDCC Gold Destros as recently as July 10, 2008. There is a rather langthy thread about it on Hisstank's forums.

They did give away several Gold Head Destros to people at the G.I.Joe convention. People that answered what ever quetion was asked and someone got the answer. Very informal "contests" so to speak. It was during the panels. I saw at least 3 given away. More might have been given out. That could be where this other Ebay one came from that came up. One of the people might have put it up in hopes of getting a lot of money. I could see Hasbro doing a short production run of that figure just to have for give aways and other projects they may have. I don't see any problem with that since there are no production numbers actually stamped on the figures.

Jman, the PDD were in a Hasbro box at a person's house. So unless he won a boxful...
I think they were bought from one of the Chinese Midnighters on Ebay. We were discussing that maybe they were repackaging them for the Austrailan market that did not get a chance for these.

Oh ok. I guess I misread or something. I thought you meant it was just 1 figure. Yeah ok, well that might be a whole different thing. Sorry about that. Leave it to me to comprehend the topic wrong and throw out some misinformation, hehe.

Well, they're sort of "lying" to me. I pre-ordered the 2 DVD Battles sets back in April and now my order status is 'Partially Shipped'

But when I actually look at the order, the status of each set says 'Not Shipped' :-|

No big deal really, as I've previously received shipping confirmation e-mails from them after I had already received my order 8-O ;-)

I got an email from them Monday saying those arne't shipping until 8/21. Of course the same thing happened with the Henry Joes, Sr. figur eI ordered and they pushed back that shipping date 3 times before it actually shipped. The important thing is that it shipped though. And at a price that was lower than any brick and mortar or online.

Yeah due to them being so late shipping, some of the items I'm picking up in store when I see them and just shipping the stuff from HTS back. The DVD packs are so full in stores that they'll probably get marked down before they sell them all. But yet HTS still says they don't have enough to fill the shipments? That doesn't sound right to me.
