Let's hear it for Cobra-LA!
Think of it:
-shell-like bikini swimsuits
ummm
Did I mention shell-like bikini swimsuits?
(wait, I'm starting to see a bad Convention set idea: GIJOE/Baywatch crossover which would see Pamela Anderson immortalized in plastic.

)
I personally don't care much for the existance of Cobra-La, or the idea behind it all that much. I DID like the way they were presented in much of the movie, though -an unstoppable force who were downright evil and "LASER BLAST" up.
The RAH figures were pretty much unusable -Golobulus couldn't stand, Nemmie was an insult to what he COULD have been (20 years later they got it right), and the Royal Guard was just odd and chubby looking. Heck, I'm able to work in Star Brigade Armor Tech figures and Shadow Ninjas easier than these three dingleberries.
If we MUST have Cobra-La figures in the new line, and I think we will be getting them based on Nemmie even being made in the first place, and the fact that Mike from the design team is a huge fan himself, I look forward to seeing what he would do with a Pythona, Golobulus and Royal Guard.
The potential for utter coolness IS there in every character in the mythos, but Cobra-La presents a real challenge: take the biggest turds in Joe RAH history and make them cool. Sounds like Project: Respect on a commercial level, doesn't it?
And, beyond that, IF Hasbro can make the Cobra-La rejects cool as hell, then I have full faith that they can get anything right. Maybe not on the first try (Major Bludd, Zartan), but they did get both of those characters right the second time. And, if the Joe line follows SW's lead, we can expect several different versions of each character and chances are good that at least one version of them would be enough to make each fan happy for thier own favorite version to be made.
