I may not know much on Tanks, but I believe they consist of a crew of 3.

Since the Mauler tank was made in the 1985 line, here's the crew I ought to have assigned:

Tank Commander: Heavy Metal
Driver: Footloose
Gunner: Bazooka

The MOBAT would also have a 3 man crew from the 1983 line.:

Tank Commander: Steeler
Driver: ???
Gunner: Zap

So, whacha think if you had to assign a tank crew for the following:

H.A.V.O.C.
Rolling Thunder
Raider
General Mobile Center
Brawler (no, the tank, not the schmoe :bigbrawler:)

Post your tank crews.

You don't think Brawler has had guys in him before?

Actually modern U.S. tanks have a crew of four, consisting of a Driver, Gunner, Loader and Commander. There are some modern tanks that use an auto loader in foreign armies though. But its your joeverse so they can have a three man crew if you want.

I would suggest making Bazooka the tank driver and Footloose the gunner. Bazooka's SMS is a tank driver, Footloose is a basketball coach.

Yeah, but Bazooka transferred out of tanks when he realized a single anti-tank round could take out his big metal monster.

So it sorta seems counter to his *character* to be driving a tank, even if he has the skills.

For me, the Mauler crew (my default Joe tank) is Commanded by Cover Girl, driven by Dodger, and fired by Grand Slam.

I respectifully disagree. Bazooka had the fore-sight to realize that he could take out a million-dollar tank with a single anti-tank rocket and thus further enhanced his qualifications in anti-tank ordanance within the unit.

Therefore Bazooka is unique because he has academic and combat experience in both spectrums of his specialization - basically he knows how to drive tanks and he knows how to blow them up.

He'd be the perfect tank driver or second to Heavy Metal because he knows the vunerabilities of a tank and how best to optimize its use in the field.

- that's the nerdiest post I've ever made...

In the comic, the MOBAT's crew was generally Steeler, Clutch and Breaker. But that was only when they showed it AS a crew, which wasn't very often.

The Mauler was shown with Heavy Metal and Bazooka in it, with no other crew members.

For me, it doesn't really matter, since the toys don't allow for a full crew inside the vehicle.

Steeler's commanding the MOBAT. Anyone else is down inside where you can't see them so it doesn't matter.

Heavy Metal drives the Mauler, and the other seat alternates depending on who's available.

How about the Patriot Grizzly?

so glad you brought up the Patriot Grizzly Tim - my all-time favourite tank with appropriate scaling to the current Joes. If they bring this out again with remolded foot pegs for the 25A guys I'd be ecstatic.

I've got the desert version so when I pick up Dusty he'll be part of the crew just because of the element. The other two guys: Bazooka (driver), Gung-Ho (gunner)

Contrary to popular movies like James Bond, XXX (the 2nd one), and Rambo III. Most modern armor have at least a driver, gunner and TC. the Abrams also has a loader, whcih most western (NATO) tanks still do. I think driving, firing and loading is certainly impossible all from one station.

I always saw the Mauler as incorporating an autolader feature, as that was popular in "future force" projections/conjectures at the time (mid-80's) as well as the low profile turret, which would give it a crew of three. but, how many hatches does it have?
It looks like three confirmed, and what may be a fourth (top of turrent, right side). there is certainly a TC hatch up top, and a driver hatch in front. One may assume that the other front hull hatch is a gunner station, but why it would not be incorporated in the turret is beyond me. maybe it is the TC hatch up front, and the gunner is in the turret, or there is a crew of 5 jammed down there with three in the turret and two in the forward hull.

Personally I lean toards the crew of three with the TC and driver forward, and the gunner in the turret, with superior optics and situational sensors augmenting the TC to compensate for his static position.

For the Patriot Grizzly, I would have Wild Bill as the driver (for the parts where the tank flies), Admiral as the Tank commander (because the main gun is as powerful as a battle ship) And Toll Booth as the gunner (for when it shoots tunnels through mountains).

:raptor: :balloon_tank:

I'm not sure who the loading crew would be, as I'm not sure who could load the laser up with proper ammunition.

Maybe just a distaste for how the tank was used in Spytroops.

well, I usually free up my regular soldiers by using Greenshirts as my "Extra Tank Crews, especially in the Cases of the Havoc. Rolling Thunder, Brawler, and Mobats. Extra Non joe vehicles, like the Elite forces Bradley, and the BBI atv are manned by various "Customs" (except the Woodland camo Bradly, which houses the entire 2007 Convention "Tanks for the memories" team.)

Did you see the Spy Troops movie?

There's nothing that the tank can't do. If you pointed the gun at the ground, you could fire it up into space. You could dig a tunnel to china. You could drive it around the world so fast that you could reverse time.
