Tell me I'm not alone on this!

Over the years of Joe collecting, one recurring dream I have is that I go to a store and find a toy section FULL of new Joe figure releases, dozens upon dozens of new items all with original packaging art in RAH style.

In the dream I begin filling the cart (boy, am I American), and get excited seeing all the new figures, characters and packaging knowing that as an adult, I can now collect to my hearts content.

When I see stuff like this, it makes me feel like it's my dream coming true:

Image

By dreaming coming true, I don't mean this particular character, but I mean an ongoing offering of new figures being made how I would like them being made. Aside from not being ARAH style, I really can't ask for much more.

Anyone else had this dream, or feel the same way?>

of course,..

I would say just about every person who logs on to G.I.Joe websites daily have this dream.

Its the adult version of Sugarplums dancing in our heads (or in this case, vipers)!

I do have this dream, but I don't know if seeing the Paratrooper makes me feel like this dream is coming true. Of course, if I saw a whole end cap of them then that might change my mind.

I usually have that dream a few times a year, or at least a variation of it.

The last one was about three days ago. I dreamed I went to a flea market I had never been to before and someone had an entire table of GIJOE products and other toys. It was near the end of the day and the guy didn't want to haul it all home-gave me a great deal. I remember carefully loading vehicles and figures into a 56 quart plastic tub and carrying it back to my car...

I was ticked when I woke up and realized it was a dream. :verymad:

As for the Cobra Paratrooper, anybody have any guesses on how to do that up with ARAH parts? The head looks like a regular Viper helmet with some breathing tubes added.

Yeah, I've had that dream. But I'll be honest, as cool as the handful of new character and trooper designs may be, like this Para-Viper, the fact that it's NOT traditional RAH-style sort of dims it for me. If It WERE -- well, I doubt my bank account would be happy, but I would be.

I think everyone missed this line:

"By dreaming coming true, I don't mean this particular character, but I mean an ongoing offering of new figures being made how I would like them being made. Aside from not being ARAH style, I really can't ask for much more. "

No, I don't think so. KOP, Liftoff, and I all stated we had GIJOE dreams about finding stuff. I've mentioned it before, I just happened to relate my dream from the other night.

The Cobra Paratrooper is a cool design and it is a new one. Sure I would like to see never before seen characters made. So far though, in the 25th line, exactly how many 'new' new figures have we gotten? How many are just 25th versions of ARAH?

I would like to see "an offering of new figures being made how I would like them being made" ...I just would prefer they are ARAH style.

I am starting to like some 25th stuff (I do have a small collection), but nothing about any of the 25th has made me even want to customize or even think about customizing them.

I have seen some 25th parts and thought they could be re-worked or used for other characters (Bazooka waist/legs for Major Barrage, Barbacue feet for a Dreadnok).

I don't even know where to start customizing them. There really isn't that many parts that seem interchangeable (ease of swapping) unlike the ARAH which practically lends itself to parts swapping. ARAH has a library of parts to choose from, while 25th (being new) doesn't have the same yet.

So to answer your question, yes, I do want to see new figures based on new characters and designs. Until that happens, I will be looking to do the same (ie-stuff I've dreamed about specifically) by customizing ARAH and looking for ARAH recipes for the 25th ones I do like (like the new Cobra Paratrooper).

:rotfl: Oh sure, WHEN I see it, that usually being online since the store pegs are constantly empty with scalpers and other bums taking it out of the store, i am happy.

Basically i am never happy.
If it wasn't for Spectre, and Ebay, I wouldn't even bother collecting because I would know that there is no chance i will ever get anything I want.
EVER.

No Firefly-Stormy 25th comic pack for me.
No Henry Jones.
No Dr. Ilsa.
NOTHING
Geez if it wasn't for Spec in the last 3 years or so i wouldn't have had anything as i refuse to pay anything over market value for in store stuff unless it is a split of a package where i only want say 1 fig out of a 5 pack.

I finally actually walked into Toys R Us yesterday and saw a full stock of wave 9 and the new comic packs. I even found the black chrome headed Destro. They only had 1 BAT and 1 Snow Serpent though, but at least I finally have 1 of each. There was a fair stock of the original 3 pack exclusives, the 5 packs, and a nice amount of the DVD packs. The even had the new 12" figures. So it wasn't a bad presentation actually. A lot more than I've seen in a while.

I think Rasputin also makes a valid point. Whether one's collecting the 25th line or not, it's not hard to miss the fact that shelf space allocated to G.I.Joe (or, on the whole, action figures in general) certainly isn't what it used to be. Granted the movie may well change this, but only temporarily.

Now, my dreams? When G.I.Joe took up 2/3 of an aisle at Toys "R" Us as well as an end cap, and not just half a dozen pegs with one or two figures hanging from them and maybe two feet of shelf space for largely absent vehicles.

THAT -- if it were in ARAH form -- would be my dream. They could do all the new characters in any format they wanted. What good is it if you can't find it?

BTW, with regard to the Para-Viper in particular. I'm sure someone with greater knowledge of the military or of parachuting in general can explain this one to me. I am assuming that the look and design of this figure, with regard to how he wears his gear, is fairly authentic. Hasbro seems to want to keep things fairly "real" within G.I.Joe these days. That having been said, why is this trooper wearing his parachute gear around his crotch? This seems to me like a really good way to get the world's worst wedgie. 8-O

Hasbro's version is actually light on the gear worn in that version, if you see pics online (just google HALO jumper), you'll see the gear being bulky, my guess on this is that it's a matter of balancing the weight on the back and the front to ensure the jumper (since this is freefall) falls properly and the chute opens properly with minimum effect by all the gear on him. Of coure I'm only guessing but I'm sure one of the active or former service guys could give us better info

I wish I could find the picture I saw where someone took a picture of a display at their superwalmart, there were hundreds of Joes on the display(one of those small little cube displays in the middle of the aisle), I think it was Yo Joe or hisstank, I don't remember the site, anyone see that pic?

I have those dreams, but it's some dusty out of the way old ma and pa store that I walk into and they have pegs filled with vintage Star Wars figures on clearance and Joes. Come one, you know there has to be a place like that out there in the Dakotas, maybe Wyoming, I mean do people really live out there?

Some of you aren't getting it. Zombieguide is not talking about a WISH; he's talking about an actual DREAM that happens while you are asleep.

And yea, I've had that dream, too. Even had it once where there was a MIB USS Flagg along with all the other stuff on the shelf. It was soooo heartbreaking when I woke up.

Yeah. I have had that dream too. It has gotten to the point that I sketched out the end cap from what I remember and am in plans to build it in spare room in my house. LOL.
