Below is an excerpt from WarrenEllis.com --

Okay, I meant to get around to this several weeks ago. But, you know, working for a living, etc.

So I wrote what we call a "micro-series" called GI JOE: RESOLUTE. (This has been misreported elsewhere as GI JOE ABSOLUTE, which may give aid and comfort to the people at Hasbro who weren’t wild about the title!) It’s an hour long, broken into ten 5-minute episodes and one 10-minute final episode.

It went like this. Sam Register phoned me up and said, we’d really like you to write a GI JOE animation, at a PG-13 rating, aimed at an older viewer. I said, I’ve never seen a GI JOE cartoon in my life. The closest I got to a GI JOE comic was drinking with Larry Hama. I’ve never even seen a GI JOE. Couldn’t tell you what they look like if you paid me. I know nothing about GI JOE. It is meaningless in my world.

Excellent, Sam said. Just the guy we need.

Its going to be a great time to be a GI joe fan

Ellis throws scientific mumbo jumbo everywhere and is a technophile, but his characters always kick ass and he can tell a story. I happy about seeing this time in GI Joe history already

Yeah, I think LJ will show up (the producers at the Con said LJ only had a small role) but he was just emphasizing that Scarlett is the main female lead.

Cobra Commander isn’t very funny any more. Although, really, given that his uniform includes wearing a bag over his head, there are limits to how unfunny he can be at any given time.

Sinister is good...this is very good....

Sad...but with what, now 300 different Joes not everyone can get equal time.

RESOLUTE will be screened on the web first, I believe, sometime in 2009.

As long as hasbro doesn't bring back that stupid "if they're dead in media, they're dead in the toyline" rule, I'm a-ok with that. Really, that was just a stupid policy to begin with.

If they kill Duke and stick to that old policy, my lifelong dream will have come true. No more Duke.

I got a funny feeling but I'm guessing they kill off "General Abernathy" Hawk and Roadblock leaving things wide open for Heavy Duty and Duke.

I'm really pulling for Snake Eyes and Scarlet. I think these two characters have been exhausted over the last 25 years time to give them and US a break.

YES! Snakeyes and Scarlett must die!

Hopefully we see these deaths:

Storm Shadow
Snake Eyes
Scarlett
Duke
Wild Bill

There are others...but I would have to dig around and see who is most annoying
