I've noticed at a couple of Wal-Marts recently that the Joe section has been cut back to one or two pegs for single cards, and one or two pegs for comic packs, even at the store overburdened with comic packs and a steady flow of stock. They crammed the pegs as full as possible, then put the extras in the overstock/catchall area of the toy department. The space that had been Joe space now houses even more of The Corps! stuff, and all the shelf space underneath is given to The Corps! vehicles (tank, humvee clone, helicopter, the smaller vehicles, and stealth packs).
Has anyone else noticed this at area Wal-Marts?

Well the Corps! does have an awesome new comic coming out from Devil's Due. :shifty:

Seriously though Corps! figures are cheep and i think that most WM distrobution centers probably have had a glut of them for a while. Plus Corps! figuers probably cost WM alot less than new joes do per unit, becuse let's face it they are some pretty crappy figures.

Welcome to my world...while everyone else in the country has been finding G.I. Joe figures at Wal-Mart for the last 5 years, my local Wal-Mart has ALWAYS only carried the CORPS figures. If I didn't have access to the 'net, I wouldn't even know that a new Joe line existed... :\

Makes sence since they aren't getting singles anyway, "gotta fill the pegs." as they say.

Looks like the distro problems are biting back.

I know from retail now, if you don't have a product that you have given shelf space to, you can't sell air. You end up doing something with that space when you don't have the intended product to fill it. So due to Hasbro not getting the product out there, Wal-Mart is just filling it with "filler". CORPS! has been something that sells decently for them, but it's also something easy to move too. I wouldn't too much worry with Wal-Mart filling out the space, it's more of a worry that Hasbro still hasn't begun getting the G.I.Joe figures out there in enough quantity.

Thanks for the input, guys. I know they want to keep the pegs full with something, anything, but both the stores I've really noticed this in were consistently receiving stock of Joes, with enough peg-warmers to round out the new stock. They're now condensed down to just room for the pegwarmers, and no real need for new stock. That, coupled with the local Target's now-in-week-three prepping for a reset, means slim pickin's around here right now.

As an aside, I'm actually a bit excited to see the new Corps! comic and am curious to see how it affects the toyline. In fact, it brings to mind another question that merits its own thread.

I wish I could say my Walmart filled their shelves with ANYTHING cool, but we don't get Corps! either.
Funny, the back to school stuff is out yet no reset for Christmas.

Oh, the Christmas push already came and went. That was the end of June until last week. In a few weeks, they may be prepping for Christmas '09.

At my local WM, both shelf and peg space are low, nothing new there either, the only peg warmers are Indiana Jones and Power Rangers, still the first wave of Indy shizzy. :-(

I've been hearing this alot lately and also people blaiming Hasbro for distribtuion or some such. It isn't Hasbro's fault that Target, wal-MArt and TRU aren't buying enough of these items to keep the shelves stocked. I get the retailers reluctance to back a property that has constantly bitten them in the ass. But Hasbro isn't the one that stocks the shelves or fills the distribution warehouse.

Maybe I'm wrong but has it been said by anybody that Hasbro isn't able to meet the retailers demands for the product? Is Wal-Mart asking for X number of cases and Hasbro is saying they can only offer as many as Y? All we've heard is they are cranking them out as fast as they can. They know distribution is a problem. Those are all corporate speak for "Hey we just sell the stuff and let them sort out the details."

A few of my local WM's are low on the Corps fig's too, as well as Joe's. But I've found all of wave 9 and all 4 vehicle packs at WM. Now Target is the one bare of Joe's and decreased pegs for Joe's. One store has even removed the pegs for single carded Joe's altogether and only has a space for comic packs and has 1 pack at that.

I saw a couple NICE new corps packs recently with new heads, some really nice. I have several customs planned from what I found.

My Wal-Marts never have Joes anyway. If they get CORPS, then I at least have something to look at.
