We appreciate all the feedback, but the project budget could not include 13 pieces of all new art. How much does everyone want to pay for these? :-)

So, how much are you planning on charging for them in the first place?

Sounds like they screwed up the project budget if they can't get it right.

According to what I've read here, people don't want to pay for cards.

Oi!

Sorry, I love that these are carded. I'm not saying I'm in love with all of the card art, or figure choices, just that they are carded.

Here's what I can see:

1. Those who want loose and those who want carded can be satisfied by the same product. Remove from card if you want it loose, keep it on if you want it carded. Introducing a cheaper bagged product might kill demand for carded product to the point that it becomes untenable to do the whole thing.

2. The art is not THAT bad. The old art was pretty cool, but it's mostly appealing because you saw it when you were 6. I love it, I know you do too, but the new stuff is OK. Why in the world would you create brand new artwork when you can just mod the old stuff? Especially Grunt? That should have been a palate swap alone.

3. I think this complaining is out of hand. If you don't want it, don't buy it. The club is not hurt by pithy insults, but by lack of sales.

4. Even I recognize this post is useless, as I am buying none of them, and yet here I sit complaining about complaining. Who cares? Am I buying it? No. Why should I be involved? For the "potential" for something good to come from people who, thus far, have not really seized the opportunities presented them? Forgive me if I don't feel the Club terribly capable of doing what everyone wants.

See, here's the thing... Year after year Savage asks at the Club roundtable at the Convention that if we could have the items in bags instead of doing cards or boxes to cut price, the resounding answer is yes. The bulk of the people he polls want the items as cheap as possible & the first thing they're willing to give up is packaging. He still doesn't listen.

I would point to the sales difference between loose Club Dial Tones and carded Dial Tones as a counterpoint. They're doing crazy numbers either way, but $120 range for loose vs $400-500 for carded figures seems to indicate that, despite the small sampling at JoeCon, many people do want the cards.

They did delivered their latest 12" figures in bags and people didn't mind.

I don't think we can really make any comparison between 12" collectors and 3 3/4" collectors.

The problem with that example is that there is probably a 3-1 ratio of loose to carded figures, and I don't think the Club would make a run of that proportion on a regular release since the cost of making the art is probably prohibitive for a smaller run.

Okay, just looked at images of all the full card art, and I've gotta say, some of my opinions have changed. Overall, I now REALLY think some of the criticisms are way overblown. It is very reminiscent of the classic cards. But seeing them all now, I've kind of soured on Cover Girl's art. It's definitely just her head, but it needs to be reworked. Everything else really is fine, it captures the classic look they were going for.
