What is up with Hasbro not adding waist articulation? The Showdown figures have that at least.

At least they are better hidden than 25th joes, no mid torso bump ruiming the lines of the figure. Perhapes hasbro is trying to make it more esteticly pleasing. Maybe they heard my rants :shifty:

I see some improvemnts from Showdown, but some look almost exactly the same. I will probably grab figs that are A much more improved like Cap and Hulk and B figures not seen before like Ms Marvel.

They also look like they have the showdown two jointed arms, not that I mind.

At the risk of sounding like PBarny:

Remember that the human body does not bend at the waist. When you lean forward your upper spine bends and your chest moves. Your waist remains stationary. When you turn to the side your upper spine twists and your shoulders turn. Your waist remains stationary. When you bend over to touch your toes your hips swivel in their sockets. Your waist remains stationary.

This is because your pelvis and lower spine are essentially fused. To bend at the waist like an o-ring Joe would basically break your spine.

Problem with this is that on a toy this disrupts the lines of the figure. ie the bump in the 25th A figures. Plus you don't bend mid ribs anyway, its more mid gut. Still though this is toys we are talking about not people.

THat is why traditionally they bend at the waist, there is a disruption to the lines anyway (Useually in the form of pants) and thus the eyeline isn't disrupted in an abmormal way. With mid chest articulation, it is and very badly I might add. If it weren't for the webgear on some 25thA they wouldn't be nearly as nice, even still that does sort of ruin the figue since you know its there, even if it is masked (ie Gung ho)

But I will say it looks like they are going out of thier way to mold the chest joint better than they did with the Joes, which makes it much more tollerable. Its the difference between Duke and Destro. Duke has a massive bump where as Destro is molded as a natural part of his body, as such destro is much more pleasing to look at than duke. As long as the Marvels stick to "The Destro" form like they appear to be, It can work. If they go the Duke route it will ruin some potetnally great figures.

Very true, it should be slightly lower, however it's far better than the waist joint which doesn't allow realistic movement at all.

To each their own I guess. I have NO problem with the chest joint at all. In fact I wish EVERY figure had one. Star Wars and Indy I'm looking at you!

While I would much rather they hide the joints, it's prety hard to do on smoother figures. And if it comes down to a line across the chest or the ability to bend and swivel naturally, give me the line every time.

Actually that is my big issue, Takara (Microman) and Toybiz (Some SHS, especially Cyclops) both proved that it can be done without disrupting the figure. I realy don't understand why hasbro took a step backwars, thankfully they don't appear to be doing that with the marvels.

And its not the line that I have issue with, its the hump created when its not molded as part of the figure (ie Duke, Snake Eyes Gung-ho ect) whereas other figures don't seem to have the problem (Destro, Storm Shadow) cause they are molded better.

Your assertion that the moob joint is fundamentally 'better' than the beltline joint is unsupportable, by your very reasoning. The lumbar spine is a chain, and flexes like one. A ball joint at *either* the moob or beltline is going to be insufficient to properly convey that. Only the MicroMan figs with their joints at *both* locations comes close to replicating how a human properly moves.

However, if a choice has to be made between them, only the RAH beltline joint has the added feature of easy customization.

When: March 2009
Where: everywhere
How much: same as Star Wars which could be anywhere between Walmart's $6.63 to Target's $7.99.

So far here is the list of figures that I can count. Anyone care to add more if I forgot any?
Captain America
Thing wearing pants
Moon Knight
Blade
Punisher classic (white gloves and boots)
Punisher Current(black gloves and boots)
Green Hulk
Red Hulk
Grey Hulk
Current Thor
Colossus
Wolverine (X-Factor)
Ms. Marvel Classic
Ms. Marvel Current
Nick Fury
Spider Man (red and blue)
Spider Man (black)
Human Torch
Johnny Storm
Iron Man Modern
Stealth Iron Man
Classic Iron man (pointy head)
Classic Iron Man (rounded head)
Iron Fist
Black Panther
Hobgoblin
Geen Goblin
Hand Ninjas
Union Jack
Dare Devil
Bullseye
Ronin
Silver Surfer
S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent

Thats 34 figures, a HUGE wave if this is indeed just a single wave, which I doubt it is.

According to sources at Hasbro, the current release plan look something like this...

Wave 1

* Spider-man

* Punisher

* Iron Man

* Silver Surfer

Wave 1.5

* Black Panther

* Wolverine (X-Force)

* Bullseye

* Daredevil

* Stealth Armor Iron Man

* Human Torch (Flames)

* Human Torch (F4 costume)

Wave 2

* Hulk (Green)

* Hulk (Gray)

* Goblin

* Ronin

* Captain America

* Iron Fist

More figures are planned, though release dates and additional information - including specific retail prices - were unavailable.

The line, which will feature a bookshelf "numbering" packaging system allowing fans and collectors who prefer to display their figures mint in box to show off the completeness of their series, will feature multiple points of articulation - including head/neck, shoulders, biceps, elbows, wrists/forearms, chest/waist, hip, knee, and ankle - as well as character-specific accessories.

I just about peed myself in the panel when they showed the pics at the panel.
Then when I saw them in person... I did pee myself.
I think this line is incredible. I love everything about them.

I believe it was said that 2009 would see 39 figures.

They also said that comic packs were a no-brainer. So I expect we'll see those by next Christmas.

Talking to the lead designer in the exhibition hall he stressed to think about the line not as a 3 3/4 line but a 3 3/4 scale line. "Wouldn't it be awesome to be able to buy a pack with Magneto and Cyclops and a scale Sentinel altogether?" I asked him the possibility of re-releasing BAF that would work better with this scale. Like Galactus might look fine with the 6 inch line but would look better with this scale. He said they had talked about doing 6 inch and larger figures in this line and re-released figures from Legends that would work in this line. Making both scale's collectors happy.
