Chief,

At first I thought Vixen too, but it could also be Katana. She has the similar hair cut and the mask.

And the dude does look like the current incarnation of Auquaman. Is the other from the Titans or Outsiders?

And WTF is with all the chicks having karate-chop hands? Again: GOD, MATTEL SUCKS.

The new outfit Katana from Outsiders, the chick with the tattoos is Grace from the Outsiders,
The guy is either The New Aquaman or Joey from Teen Titans.

I think I'll collect them. If they can stand up better than JLU, that's enough for me. Articulation isn't everything for me, sometimes it distracts from a figures visual.

Nope they are now Target exclusives so no need to be at Toy Fair.

Well, having finally been able to call up some pictures of these on Figures.Com -- I'm reasonably impressed. Articulation MAY be an issue, but clearly a lot of the figures on display are prototype sculpts. Let's give Mattel a chance to get this line right before we automatically assume they won't.

What's to give a chance for? Both the pics and the official statement say the articulation tops out at 10poa, less than a 20 year old RAH Joe - and remember that's for the better figs that won't be stuck with just 6poa. The pics plainly show the finished figs will have swivel t-crotches, hinge-only elbows, and swivel waist and neck? Unless they redo every single fig from scratch to have ball joints at the usual places human beings have ball motion - these things suck, as does Mattel.

Frankly, simply due to the sheer number of 18th figs coming out this year, I think this line will bomb enormously as people will look at these and pass them up for pretty much any and every other line out there for the same price. Their only saving grace is the die-hard DC fan that will get these simply because they exist and the few customizers that will be able to find parts to use, like I plan for the Adam Strange and Thanagarian set. Beyond that, this entire line looks 100% useless.

Well, there's also the selling point of there being only a wave or two announced, and already surpassing the character selection of like 3 years worth of Superman/Batman and DCUC. These aren't good figures, but the sheer variety of characters will pull in a lot of people.

Quote:
Infinite Heroes
1. What is the release schedule for these? IH will be on shelf at the end of the summer.

2. What is the actual scale of these? Are they truly 3 3/4"? or more 3 3/4" Scale? They are 3 3/4 figures.

3. Are these the finished sculpts or just mockups? They seem to be in a couple of different styles. Figures like Green Lantern have regular anatomy on the torso, whereas figures like Batman have a very angular anatomy. Some look like they are the same base bodies with just painted detail (Flash) where as others have a TON of sculpted detail (Black Hand) The figures shown at Toy Fair are prototypes. Many did not have the articulation built in yet. We hope to have final sculpts to show at NY Comic Con in April.

4. Any word yet if Wal-Mart will be carrying this line? We continue to work with Wal-Mart and all of our customers. In the end, it is up to each retailer to decided which Mattel products they want to carry.

5. Will the 4 Horsemen be involved in the line? Not the IH line. The Horsemen will remain our sculptors on the 6 inch DCUC line.

6. What is the estimated retail price? - 5.99 for singles, 15.99 for 3 packs.

7. How many figures per wave? That will be announced at NY Comic Con.

8. I know big names need to be held back, but there’s some glaring absences (notably Superman, Wonder Woman, Robin, Joker, Luthor, etc). Are we looking at 2009 at the earliest for some of those characters? Again, we will announce all character selection at NY Comic Con.

9. There was close to 30 figures shown. How many waves are we seeing here? Is this all 2008 product or do the characters shown spill into 2009? The figures shown at NY TF are there to educate retailers about what they can expect to see in the line. All of these figures are prototypes and not all will wind up in the 2008 line. By the time we reach NY CC we will have a better idea of the line up and can make a more direct announcement to the fans!

Second part of the questions:

Quote:
10. Do you know what a ball joint is? Is that like a cut swivel?

11. Why do all of your figures have articulation like they were designed in the 1970s? The basic 5 point articulation has served us well. We see no reason to change now.

12. Are you "LASER BLAST" stupid? Apparently.

It's really too bad that this line is so lame, because I'd love to snag a Green Lantern, Batman and Green Arrow. But the goofy looking sculpts, the "LASER BLAST" articulation and the overall doofiness will let me pass these by without blinking.

If I can hack these up and graft them onto some 25A joints, there may be some hope for them. But I'll have to wait until I see one up close.

After stepping back from these for a while, I must say that I'm still underwhelmed.

The thing that strikes me more than anything is how animated they appear. They would almost fit in with the JLYU figures. If these had pushed the sculpting to be a little more realistic, the articulation wouldn't be quiet so bad, IMHO.

TNI: What are the chances of seeing a "Hall Of Justice" playset released for the DC Infinite line?

Mattel: If and when we do playsets, the HOJ is at the top of our list.

That sound cool, i hope they don't screw it up. I think it would be a cool idea if they sold it in different sets, like build a BAF, but only "Build a Hall Of Justice". :-P
