Well, I still have yet to find the drones themselves at retail, though I've seen shreds of their wave here and there. I just got the Air Force drone today off ebay (since I'm impatient) and he's easily the best in the line.

I don't understand how they haven't put a single plain clothes or even unmasked Tony Stark on the shelves yet. I know the one 3-pack may or may not be coming. But it's inconceivable that there is no Stark out there yet. Even the crappy TDK figures had a suited Bruce Wayne figure. If this line doesn't mind borrowing Joe molds (see Nick Fury) then why not a SDCC suited Destro with RDJ head? Sold!

Surely it can't be the fear that kids don't buy boring civilian figures? Have they checked out the SW line? The IJ line (ok, never mind on that one :shifty: )? Wolverine Origins?

And to tie up the loose ends of my random movie references, I know, stop calling you Shirley, and yes inconceivable does mean what I think it means here...

The closest we got in the toyline for the first movie was one with a removable helmet. I completely agree that since they were so gung-ho about doing so many different Iron Men, an unmasked or civvy one would have been a good way to differentiate the line a bit on shelves, get away from all that metallic red and gold. I like that they're carrying the drones forward into the next wave of movie based figures, but I really can't see the logic in carrying the "coffee can armor" the arctic armor, or the Guardsman forward, as all of these figures are remarkably common around here. pack in another Mandarin and maybe bring the comic Iron Monger along, though he seems to be getting easier to find as well.

They could easily use that one Movie Destro SDCC body for a Stark. I saw the Drones finally, at WM. These things are sweet. Now I want them all.

NYCC thread reveals the Whiplash Hammer armor from the movie. No sign of the unmasked figures though. If they don't show them this weekend then I don't think they're going to happen. Let's hope they pull them out later in the weekend.

Yeah that War Machine is from the comic line.

The blue/silver Iron Man is the "Stark Racing" armor. Personally if they made the Indy car in those colors to go with it I'd probably poop my pants with excitement.

Actually the Whiplash armor was revealed at SDCC.

They answered this in a Q+A. No suited figures are going to be made for the IM line. "Kids don't want suited figures" :-/

Yeah, but kids are stupid. And, apparently so are toy executives since they wasted all that money on the awesome SDCC suited Destro that they only ran off like 20 copies of. And the mold costs for the Iron Mask Destro too. WTF's the point in having those molds if they're not gonna get free money off their repeat use?

Some times it really does seem like Hasbro goes out of their way to piss us off for no good reason. An exclusive suited Tony Stark would sell sh!tloads more than the suited Destro did, or ever possibly could have.

Agreed.

The only sensible conclusion is they want to piss us off. Surely given the facts you mentioned, they can't be that stupid.

I don't know why people keep saying that's Whiplash's movie armor. It isn't. Doesn't even look anything like it. That's the prototype hardsuit Hammer made before Whiplash modified them into drones. Whiplash's armor has a more angular head and skirt armor.

Maybe they want to avoid paying rights for actors' likenesses like they had to for GIJoe?

thing is,

they already have likeness with the helmetless IM fig.

...and if the made it COMIC based, they wouldnt have to.

Clearly those helmetless IM figures are just a slide show myth since I can't find them in stores. :D What's the powerpoint equivalent of vaporware? lol
