Not necessarily.

If they are 1 per case, then the case it is in, is the shipping carton.
Most, if not all, shipping cartons are marked with the box count for that specific shipment. It just means that there were only 7,000 cartons shipped against that specific purchase order, on that specific container.

We deal with overseas shipments at work every day, and this is the way all of our boxes are marked. It's to let the receiver know how many boxes are on that shipment. They may only be able to fit 7,000 units in a shipping container, hence all of the boxes, in any given shipment, would all read box XXXX of 7,000.

Generally all of the information on the outside of a shipping carton, is for the receiver's reference, not the shipper's (factory), to help facilitate the receipt of product in to their warehouse(s). The information is usually specified by the receiver, and the factory just prints it on the box for them, appropriately.

It is possible that only 7,000 of them were made, but there could also very well have been multiple shipments of 7,000 pcs each, as would be the norm for large overseas shipments.

Saw this monster at one of my local Targets today. It's just so much cheaper and easier to buy the single pieces I want on ebay than to buy one set and sell/trade the extras.

I do think I'll be grabbing 6 of those Troopers. *Love* that darker look and the red straps!

Yeah I finally got to see these today. They had 12 of them on a back endcap. It was the endcap that leads to crafts. I don't know what they had them there for, but at least they had them. I got it but I won't open it until the weekend. It does look nice.

Yeah, Target's receiving deals with cartons received. Not how many items are in each box, but how many boxes per shipment. (the only time they count the items in a box are for high value items like electronics; ipods, video games, gps systems, etc - those are also tracked on a separate inventory sheet) You'd often see an item come in marked box 1 of 1. And then the exact same thing come in marked box 1 of 1. Or you'd see box 1 of 4, because 4 boxes were on the shipping pallet. Its a marker for inventory purposes, not how many were produced.

7000 might be about right though, there's only 1600 Targets nationwide, which works out to 4 sets a store, and none of it is new tooling. Not sure if I see Hasbro being willing to do that small a run though, I'm guessing the actual number is probably closer to 15000. There's plenty to be had around here though. I dunno if people are hoping it'll be drastically marked down like the SW exclusives often are, or just aren't interested, but they aren't tough to find.

It would have to be more since there were 12 at the Target I got mine from. My question is if they'll have more than one shipment. I'm thinking no and this will be just like that Star Wars shuttle with just a single shipment.

I found it today and there were 2 sets on the end cap. Given the size of the package, I wouldn't be surprised if many stores recieved only 2 total. Perhaps the store with 12 is a big volume store.

Saw one tonight. It was by itself on a lonely, empty endcap. The CC looked like his helmet was missing. Same goes for the Cobra Trooper.

There were eight more tucked away on an overhead shelf for some reason.

My Targets suck! I haven't seen any at the 5 Targets I frequent. Not to mention they seem to refuse to stock any new single or comic packs until whatever they have is completely gone.

When I got mine, there was only 1 out. Went today and they had 2 out. Really nice pack, especially the package, good dio scene.

All of the helmets are under the cardboard dio on the right side; the stands and filecards are under the other one. I thought the Cobra Trooper lost his when I saw it in the store, I turned the box on its side to see if it was rolling around loose.

Billy they said earlier that the helmets are packed on the bottom of the dio part. ;)

I just came from one the Targets near me and they had 15... yes 15 on the over head shelf above the r/c cars. I did not buy one but I figure they will still available come payday.

i think this might have been addressed in a different thread, but is anyone else getting the crappy plastic?

i got my hands on my set today (thanks, Hypno!) and i just gotta say, right out of the package, all the plastic felt cheap.

the figs were brittle, and the vehicles were 'sharp'...

makes me think that the margins on this playset were pretty good for ol' H.

still like it though it's awfully pricey -- i hope this plastic doesn't become the new 'norm' -- it'll stop my collecting cold!
