I'd be perfectly fine with them doing nothing but reissuing some of the stuff from the past 5 years, low light, night viper, shock trooper.... But I'm thinking we'll get some 12" homage thing with a DVD or something and they will call it good.

There's no reason they couldn't at least look into doing pre-order reissues via HTS.

I keep reading that 'No Joe' at Toy Fair, and I keep thinking there's a Challenge in there somewhere ...

Or some sort of trooper multi-pack. They've made it way too hard to get many of these guys.
We've had tons of threads about stuff they could re-release. They could give us the re-tooled Silver Mirage that they painted in Z-Force colors as a convention exclusive as an example. Or the Ninja Combat Cruiser in VAMP 2 desert colors. Stuff like that.

It just seems like Hasbro never misses an opportunity to miss and opportunity.

That seems likely.

I will predict we could get 2 more online exclusive 7 packs. One of which would be the Cobra-La set we were all looking forward too. :D

Because nothing represents 50 years of G.I. Joe like Cobra-La

Poorly thought out decisions seem to define a lot of Joe history so I would say Cobra-La is a perfect choice for Joe's 50th.

Starting to see aot of articles POP up talking about Hasbro acknowledging the 50th anniversary and announcements will be made at Toy Fair. Weather this has anything to do with the 4" figure line or not has yet to be determined.

Nope, they suck, too. The FoC Grimlock I got is only half there! the *entire* back side of him is completely missing, and the plastic quality is what I'm familiar with from my shampoo bottles. Plus he looks like he's got a fat ass in dino mode. Considering I bought Alternators for the same price just a few years ago, this fig is crap.

Yes. Because clearly one sub-par Transformer means they all suck.

Fortunately, I have Springer, and therefore know otherwise. :-D

I'm not expecting much of anything. This is mostly due to not seeing any GI Joe retail presence where I live for the last year, aside from the odd Dollar General stuff here and there.

If anything is released, even 12" repro stuff that I would still like as I collect 1/6 scale stuff, I expect to only ever see it online.

Lol. MP-10 is another compelling argument, but I digress.

On topic, I'm thinking we'll see pics (but probably no product) for a small retailer exclusive line that will be released in the Fall. Whether it is 4'', 12'' or a combination of both remains to be seen. Maybe I'm naive or overly optimistic, but I'm having a hard time believing there will be nothing new released for the anniversary of the brand. That being said, if we were to get nothing this year, I would be disappointed but I have more than enough custom fodder to keep me busy on the Joe front.

OB

Yeah, because the Masterpiece line counts as regular everyday Transformers toys. If you gotta go all the way up the the museum archival-quality line to make your point, I'm not convinced that this Grimlock fig isn't the most unimpressive TF toy since G1 Ironhide/Ratchet, and emblematic of Hasbro's decline in quality across their entire portfolio. Maybe you can tell me how the removal of torso artic in the basic line makes them the bestest TFs ever, too.

I loved Grimlock as a kid and I did buy that recent Fall of Cybertron or War for Cybertron or whatever that Grimlock was, it is currently in storage and you have convinced me to leave that baby sealed and leave it as great as my imagination and nostalgia have built it up to be in my head.

And I do agree that the TF line is poor quality. They feel very cheap in hand.

Hey all, just found this post and skimmed through it.

First, glad someone posted that link to the article about the 50th Joe announcement.

Second, some predictions (as with all predictions some may be right some may be wrong or all could be right or wrong, hey I'm no Nostradamus).

We will see a line of "flashback" style 12" figures for collectors. (this I am almost certain of and would be shocked to not see)
We will see some 3 3/4" figures we've already seen with new release dates
We will see some new figures that we've never seen before with no release date
We will see plans for a video game
-or-
We will be told there will never be a video game because COD owns the market for military based spec op games.

Realistically I think we'll see; new package design and a couple repaints. I'm keeping an open mind. With the 50th Anniversary I think the line is and will continue to get quite a bit of press, perhaps getting people into the stores driving demand.

Regardless of what we see I'll be live tweeting (as best I can based on network accessibility). Follow @sgcaper on Twitter. I'll also be shooting as much video and taking as many photos as allowed and posting as close to real time as I can. I'll follow up the event with a round up post of all the stuff.

Very happy to be doing this for the site again. The last time I did it it was a blast.
