Okay so now that the fantastic insanity that was Assembly Required in Des Moines is over.... we can focus again on some 2up stuff.

Pictured below are images (courtesy of Anonymous) of the 1991 Cobra Commander 2up paintmaster and
a 1:1 resin for the figure and a pre-production run for Eels v2 which includes the "2up paintmaster, a 1:1 painted hardcopy with the reference tag, a production figure, a carded production figure, an unreleased card/accessory variation sample, and carded production Funskool figure." A very special thank you to Anonymous for letting me share these images. Also pictured is an in-house copy of the Fast Draw presentation artwork (courtesy of Chris "TOPSON" Murray). Thanks Chris.

For those unfamiliar with a pre-production run...... the idea is to get as many steps in the pre-production process as you can for one character. These pre-production runs are pretty much never planned. Anonymous didn't set out to collect Eels v2 stuff. It just falls into place or it doesn't. Sometimes you'll get a 2up and a proof card and that's all you'll ever find. Other times...... the pieces just seem to pop up from various places and sources and someone is able to build a "run" of one character. There are some pretty impressive runs out there that have art and sculpt sheets and 2ups and test shots and resins etc etc..... but a lot of it is of characters that the collectors didn't set out to collect..... and a lot of it came from several different places and was essentially "reunited" after decades of being apart etc. Sometimes one piece answers all the questions that arise from other pieces. Other times it complicates things where you find a notation on one piece that tells you that it is somehow related to another character and then as a collector you kinda have to decide if you want to also try and absorb a run for that character that is related through pre-production notation. This has happened a few times. Especially when there are prototype names involved for characters. Like if a character's prototype name happens to share a name with a final version of another character that was released with that name. I know a few runs that .....run into each other.

Ya know, I've been very vocal in my dislike of that version Eel... But in that scale, it's sort of nifty.

Awesome. CC v4 and eel v2, two of my favorite underrated figures. Thanks for sharing these!

They showed this in Iowa and it blrw me away. Forget the camoed Zartan skin for a second, some of those color combinations line up with other '84 figures. Even if that is a coincidence, it is still really neat to see this part of the process.

I don't mean to hijack the thread, but seeing 'Donor' listed under his profile doesn't seem fitting.

Can it be changed to something more reflective of what he meant to the community?

Like 'Icon' or 'Legend' or something uniquely special...

Thank you so much for this...

I'd say anytime something comes to light that is cleared for sharing by the owner, that fits this topic, we'd love to see it. Almost anything regarding the history of the line is going to be of interest to SOMEBODY, or, at the very least, to me, since I gobble that "LASER BLAST" up like its Thanksgiving.
