Quarrel, Not very impressed, Topside, price is a factor but I keep thinking should be better, Nanobat, one of the few I want just for fun, Dice, I do kind of like dispite the fact he is a repaint, Grunt, Meh.

IF I get this, that is only 2 out of five I am committed to, it's a very hard sell for me at this point. Rumor is $20 each which just about kills it, that is too much for a fig that is a repaint.

What do you mean, "Dice is a repaint"?

No more newer than Topside or Tan Grunt or anything else revealed thus far or in the future beyond new heads.
But it is an okay franken-Joe, using the torso and upper legs of Resolute Samurai Storm Shadow, the arms and lower legs of Whirlwind Kick Storm Shadow and all the Slice-relevant gear, plus possibly a new head.

You can change the parts till you are blue in the face, that doesn't make it not a repaint. Also I seriously doubt the head is new. Why bother if the head doesn't need to be due to the mask.

Well, the point is that the club isn't giving us figures that you can't get anywhere else, they are giving us figures anyone can make anywhere.

You complain as though this was some sort of new development with the Club. This has been what it's done since day one.
On a rare occasion they get to use new torsos that come from cancelled Hasbro toys, like with Natalie Poole and those female Cobras from a few years back, but their stock and trade has always been frankensteining from existing figures.

Because they can? Because they want to give an extra bang for the buck?
They did it with Interrogator, so why not here?

And that has been what I have been saying about the club for years, today is no different, just not a great deal of "bang for your buck" in overpriced repaints.

Of course Interrogator was from a club con exclusive too, (and from how long ago, and how many in that set had new heads? and what did the per fig cost end up being? and let's point out it was an arah set too) but saying "cause they can" doesn't make it a reality. It looks like a typical maked head under there from what I have seen.

But you wanna hold on to that pipe dream to feel like he's more than he is go for it.

Shorter production runs cost more. Hasbro can afford the new toolings because they produce more than 20 times the amount of toys from one tooling that the Club does. This is nothing new from this club, this has always been the case with all collector-oriented products.
It's economics.

No, Dice's head is being rumored now to be a 3 3/4" version of the 12" Man Of Asia head sculpt, much like how Interrogator used the Soldiers Of The World WWII German Soldier headsculpt. And even if it isn't, the head underneath is not a masked head since you can clearly see Dice's hairline.

I was actually kind of hoping for a Torpedo or Wet Suit head on Dice. It would better replicate the look of the original figure. But if they want to give us a new head? Well, I can easily make one. A scaled down Man of Asia would be awesome. As far as the figure being a repaint? Nope. If he's a repaint so is pretty much every figure from waves 4-6 of PoC, which I don't agree with. They're frankensteins sure, but not repaints. If you switch up parts and put a new head on the figure, it's not just a repaint anymore.

So we are told at least, but the only thing to compair it to is Mattel's sub service who is the same as the rumored price ($20 per fig) but has new toolings all the time (and is in a larger scale). Even still, I doubt seriously the Noks and renegades packs were done in much different numbers than this, the fan base is pretty solid and hardcore and generally there is little difference in the numbers sold with such things, and being an exclusive with BBTS, there is little doubt that there is a low production run, yet for the price of two of the clubs figs you can get 7, the math simply doesn't add up.

Jay wrote:

If you are an OFFICER MEMBER in the club, however if not it's closser to $23, doesn't seem like a lot at first but when you consider that the only difference is how much cash you give them a year, well the math doesn't exactly work out.

He's got an unmasked head. I'll put money on it. And while I do think the Club could probably afford to charge less, I don't think you can compare their offerings with anything Mattel is doing. Mattel does better numbers and isn't paying Hasbro for mold use.
