Joe vehicles are great, but they have some pretty ridiculous features. And not just the spring-loaded ones.

Due to proportion issues joe vehicles cannot be normal size. Look at the BBI stuff for the reason why. So they cannot really create seats where seats don't exist or will look even worse.
Now the above is an example of a small vehicle that you could only practically utilize without sitting by standing on the sides.
Many of the smaller vehicles from older eras could only be used like this.
It is not ridiculous given the standards, and issues with joe vehicles. Not always at least. Sometimes but not always.
