Cobra set-

Baroness-Definatly a massive improvement over the first try. If sold individualy I will definatly grab.

Cobra Commander-I like the fig but I am just sick of CC. I have enough versions of him and dispite how nice this one is, I just can't get excited.

Storm Shadow-Stormy is as above but worse. He looks like he is harking back to the comic pack version but really it takes a miricle or a new pack with all new figs to make me consider geting stormy one more time.

Zartan-Very Meh here. Looks like his hood comes off to allow him to wear the duke head (Or maybe they went the SW route and made a removeable/replaceable head). Still he doesn't do a whole lot for me, the chest plate kind of brings the figure into Blah land.

Viper-great, awesome, looks like they fixed the arms as well as chromed the mask.

BUT two out of 5 figures do not make a win pack for me. Better than the joe pack but not by much. Also with Repaint-a-polusa going on with this line I am fairly sure I can get the ones I want later so nothing to really worry about.

So, any chance of those new Viper arms being on the Viper in the upcoming Viper / Iron Grenader Comic pack?

not from the pictures we've seen of that sat... looks to me like the comic pack Viper is almost a straight rerelease of the screwed up single pack figure.

The Joe set's got enough win to maybe get me to buy. Shipwreck is infinitely superior to the previous sculpt. The Cobra set only has the Baroness to interest me, I'll wait for a single card.

I'll be buying both, though I prefer the Joe one. I'm hoping that the Viper will show up down the line on a single card.

Anyone else think we're getting a preview of Tunnel Rat and Recondo with all that new Shipwreck tooling?

I remember a time, not so long ago, that I used to pity and sorta harass the Star Wars collectors who always used to have to buy multiple versions of the same character in order to get those characters "right". Only for them it was more scene-specific, where here it's like these little tweaks are being done, but being done just enough to still make the figures desirable.

It's working. :-/

I own every single one of these figures already, but I already can't wait to drop $50.00 to get 'em all again. Must be a freaking sickness.

Every figure is updated/tweaked enough to make me happy (except COBRA Commander, Storm Shadow, and Zartan, none of those three offer me anything especially new I was waiting for).

Justin

The great thing about these packs is that the figures I don't want in them will make either great custom fodder or great trade fodder. Nothing completely unusable for once.

Amen, brother! That's what I was thinking as I read the whole thread. Half the figs will become the default version for my collection (actually the default set will be my son's). Some of them might be modified to become even better custom updated Joes to join my own customs. And the rest will all become very well appreciated new parts for customs. Welcomed new additions for each of these reasons, whether actually "new" characters or not.

If I were a completist collection type I might be annoyed at having to own multiples...but for me, whatever is in my son's collection presently (he's not old enough to play with them yet) that gets replaced by one of these, will also sacrifice their parts for customs (except army builders). Can't feel bad about that.

Finally, I like these types of packs (like the first 5 packs) even better than the army builder types, because I can totally see this being a collection starter for some kids out there who missed out on the first waves of some of these.

Edit: for "speeling"

I have to say I'm liking these sets.
Baroness, Lady Jaye, Flint, Viper and Zartan are the big sells for me.
I also like that SE is finally coming with a backpack, and actually, now that I'm looking at him some more, the black uniform looks pretty good on him.
The Uzi also looks like an improvement, but I still will give him MJ's MP7.
I like that they've gotten rid of the closed fists for Shippy and CC, and the nunchucks for SS are a nice touch.

I agree, Justin. It's tough when you buy something and then a new, better version comes out... but Hasbro is really going out of their way here to give the fans exactly what they want, at great cost to them. Personally, if something isn't JUST RIGHT, I'll skip it... waiting on the earlier figures is justified for me now. These are all awesome updates, I'm glad Hasbro is listening to our suggestions, and I will be showing my approval with my wallet!

Would that I had your personal restraint. This is going to be my new years resolution.

I'm going to start by skipping the flak/claw pack, because I'm sure that they're going to release Outback on single card with backpack and working flashlight, and Stratoviper on single card with new card art and packed with a bonus night raven, or some such thing.

These sets piss me off, because I want them, and already have all the characters. I dont want CC or SS, or even Zartan. Baroness, Flint, SE, and the Viper are the sells here.

Anyone else think that Baroness, Shipwreck, and Lady Jaye might be movie molds? (LJ I think is probably movie Cover Girl)

I was thinking the new Shippy body will probably be used on the Tunnel Rat comic pack figure just from the subtle changes.

Say, it looks like Storm Shadow got new arms too.

When are these coming out?
