I'm seeing what I've always seen, with respect to the figures and vehicles coming out: Some stuff I really want, some I don't, some that impresses me, and some that's a bit underwhelming. I'm just tickled that 30+ years after I got my first GI Joe, I'm still able to go buy new product in the store. To me, that's pretty amazing.

Well said sir, and quite true.

As Steampunk Michael said, it's not just the cost of the paint that you have to look at. It's also the cost of the paint mask, the worker to apply the paint app, etc. Sure, it's just "two dots" if you do a simplified paint app for the eyes, but you take that times however many figures they're expected to run in a shift and it quickly adds up.

They should take the Joe Canuck way and avoid eyes. Sun glasses for everyone!

That certainly does seem to be the way they're going. Aside from the motorcycle driver figurines of Flint and Firefly, these guys all sport face-obscuring helmets or eye-obscuring glasses.

So based off what Justin put up for the wave breakdowns: http://generalsjoes.com/g-i-joe-retalia ... superpage/

What's going to fill out those later waves? Two new figures and then.....repaints? Repacks of existing figures? I'm rather curious to find out.

Depriest said the role play stuff sells and was a big hit last time. That RoC Snake Eyes set was a big seller for them even if it stagnated on the shelves. While the kids are the demographic, the retailers are their real customers.

What surprised me more than the role play stuff was the hoodie and clothing. We saw some of that stuff for RoC but it was mostly for kids. It looks like we'll be seeing more Joe clothing at Hot Topic this time around.

I still have a pair of RoC boxers. Very stylish.

Alright, I've look around and I just cannot find any good pics of the Retaliation Cobra Trooper. Did nobody bother to photograph that guy or something? Of the pics I have seen of him, not a single one clearly showed whether he had ankle joints or not. He's the one figure I can't tell on. Some of the official Hasbro pics make him look like he has fixed ankles. Some make him look like he has rocker ankles. So, for anyone who was actually there, or anyone who has seen decent pics, does he have ankles?

I believe he does.

Well of course the Snake Eyes stuff would sell well. Parents would love to get their kids to pretend to be a silent ninja. :rotfl:

Yep kids do love those masks.
I saw some yesterday with their parents going crazy for them.
However they really don't need all that space they allocate to them. 8 pegs for just masks! Then there is only ONE on each usually!!! I forget which character it was.

Oh AWESOME, the version of Jinx that I would like to get is going to a SDCC exclusive. This is going to be Zaranna all over again.
And I'm guessing I missed it in the 25 pages of post but why is Hasbro going both forwards and backwards with their figures for this line?
I will say the ninja figures in this line look great along with a couple of others but if the repainted vehicle drivers are going to have reduced articulation I don't see the point in getting them.

The reduced articulation is to cut down on manufacturing costs.

Hopefully for the sake of the line those reduced cost don't lead to reduced sales (hopefully the kids won't notice). To be honest though I don't see how working backwards is going to help them in the long run. The T crotch I saw on the vehicle drivers was a flop before and will still be a flop today. But then again I'm not some executive at Hasbro so what do I know just being someone that has watched and collected (off and on when they made stuff I wanted) this line since the beginning.
