So... Later modern era figures' only real articulation 'advantage' over the o-ring figures now is swivel wrists. Unless its a ninja.

It's the current new idea they are giving us that. It's the assembly cost and the amount of parts. Where as before they were telling us it was creating all new molds that cost 10s of thousands of dollars per mold and all that. It's just the latest and because there will be nothing different than what they say and what your dollar says when it hits, it just has to be accepted. Sigma 6 and other failed ideas happened but cost didn't seem to phase them, but yet corners must be cut for cost now on drivers. It's just stupid business ethics.

Except that we're getting fewer new molds too, so your idea that it's just Hasbro blowing smoke doesn't hold up.

Sigma 6 is a completely unfair comparison, they were trying something completely new to reach new customers. And yeah, it didn't succeed, but to say the cost didn't phase them? Sometimes a business takes risks, Sigma 6 was definitely that. Sometimes you play things cautious, and Retaliation is looking like that. By using fewer new molds, and reducing articulation they're limiting the hit they take if this movie and toyline doesn't meet expectations, and frankly, I don't blame them.

Yeah I know, I know. I've seen the posts before. Just doesn't fit.

I suppose, technically, but from what I've seen from the Toy Fair pics, no single-carded figure beyond the first wave lacks the usual 25th-style articulation.

I would have much preferred repainted/reused molds with nothing but new heads (ala the recent 7 packs) instead of reduced articulation. Re-use of older molds with decent articulation and a little creativity mixing and matching parts and you possibly could have some real all star figures. I wonder what is cheaper, re-use of existing molds or making an entire new mold with less articulation? I guess it depends on the up front cost of making a mold.

I could have sworn ROC Heavy Duty's minigun was also a missile launcher. Unless there was 1 set that it didn't? Oh well. Either way I may have to try and trade for the gun, I'm not likely to be buying a $20+ set for a weapon.

Though my opinion is still the same. Cobra Commander and HISS with CC are probably all I'll actually buy, unless we get some sort of surprise figures out that aren't shown here. Which in all honesty is likely, because eventually we may see factory leak items that were not seen at Toy Fair but will come out anyway, probably a few repaints and such. Yeah, Crimson Guard and such are nice but not on my limited budget and space. I can't buy everything that mildly grabs my interest or impulse buys.

Also from the K-Mart ROC "Desert" 4pk. I actually had 10 of them recently, but traded the last one off back in November, sorry diosoth :(

Well now... though I guess the Jungle BAT's a bit moot now because so few seemed to actually be found. Though it looks like the new 3-pack will have a retooled Roadblock backpack with the peg moved, which is my biggest gripe with the mold. Though shy of seeing that Heavy Duty at TJ Maxx, which isn't too likely anymore, my options will still be to trade for one.

It does if you fit it right or CUSTOMIZE the belt feed to FIT on it... I have one of them and I have a belt feed attached to it with NO customizing....though it is the old Ma Duce belt type with bullets showing but you can cut a notch in the other belt feeds and it'll fit on the mini-gun with no problem as well.....If you say something don't work...this is a CUSTOMIZING site... CUSTOMIZE it and it'll work...easy enough fix...

My take based on the pics:

Cobra Commander - only want the staff, will trade for it.

Duke - only want the rifle, will trade for it.

Alley Viper - pass

Battle Kata Roadblock - pass

Blind Master - pass, head sculpt is cool though.

Crimson Guard - pass

Cyber Viper - pass, although alternate head is cool.

Black Dragon Ninja - pass

General Colton - pass, I already have 2 nice Willis heads from other lines.

Jinx - might get it just to have another female base body, but most likely will pass unless she comes with the unmasked head as well.

Lady Jaye - might get, I like the Renegades Scarlett body and the headsculpt is nice.

Night Viper - pass

Snake Eyes (all versions) - pass

G.I. Joe Trooper - pass

Flint - pass

Red Ninja - pass

Roadblock #1 - pass

Storm Shadow (all versions) - pass

Zartan - I initially liked this design but the light piping looks terrible, pass

Cobra Trooper - only want the larger rifle, will trade for it.

Firefly - pass

Alpha Vehicles - pass all around

Bravo Vehicles - pass all around, but I do like the SE from the AWE Striker repaint, will try to trade for one.

Delta Vehicles - pass all around, but I do like the Duke from the Ghost Hawk II and Cobra Commander from the HISS, will try to trade for them.

Dojo Battle - pass

Ninja Showdown - Pass

SDCC Shockwave HISS - really only want the mini Soundwave w/cassettes. Would love to trade for them but know I have no chance of getting them :(

SDCC Jinx 2pk - really only want the unmasked head here, hopefully it'll turn up with the single carded figure as a running change variant after SDCC is over. Or someone casts it.

I will hoild off making a decision on the Wave 2 3pks until I see pics.

I may part off mine. Thing looks too big for the toy and might be too heavy to be held right.

I got a Roadblock belt into it, with some cutting to the end of the bullet belt to mash it in between 2 parts during assembly. It's not the prettiest method though.

The final vehicle drivers may be missing facial paint details like eyes. Again, cost cutting measure to get the vehicles down to a certain price point.

Of all the things Hasbro says, when they say X is cheaper to make than Y, I'm going to beleive them. If they could make something cheaper and sell it for the same price they would.

Well that's kind of a downer. Guess it's good the one vehicle driver I'll buy doesn't have eyes. Cutting articulation is one thing(I can live without ankles, we all lived without ankles or wrists prior to 25th) but not painting facial features seems a bit much. At least cut clothing paints that aren't going to be much missed. I also wonder if cutting eyes is really saving much money to not use 2 dots of paint.

I don't believe them, but I accept it so I can get whatever vehicle I want. I'll chunk the figure in a pile with other crappy ones that came with other vehicles. Or they'll sit in as the driver and never leave that spot. But no, we've been told so many things over the years that I don't believe it. It's just another one of those things to roll my eyes at and keep going.
