Bleh I knew Grunt wasn't going to be graced with a new head, but Flash's, that's really disappointing. I mean two of the original 13 sharing a head, ok that's fine by me. But three of them....too 82 for me. I'll probably still pick up the joe pack though and just replace Grunt's head with the comic pack one, I always preferred the comic look over the ugly guy with a receding hair line.
Isn't that just keeping up with how things were down back in the day though? Thye really are celebrating all of the RAH GI Joe's past. :D

And the first person to photoshop a white wig and dress onto Grunt wins at the interwebz.

I agree with BBB, using the Flash head on Grand Slam AND Grunt is disappointing. Grunt & Grand Slam sharing the same head is fine with me, but Flash AND Grand Slam? They're already in identical uniforms.

Pluv, if they really wanted to do just like they did back then, they'd have used the same head for Rock&Roll & Breaker; the same for Hawk & Flash; and the same for Grunt & Grand Slam. :-D

I do acknowledge the fact that it's similar to the roots and really celebrating (saving money) it and I really don't mind them reusing a head here and there but these are the original 13 characters. I know compared to the later Joes they're not as popular but we're really celebrating their 25th birthday and I think of all the Joes they deserve unique head sculpts more and anyone else since guys like Grand Slam have always got the short end of the stick. Grunt finally got a decent head sculpt during Spy Troops and then again during the first comic packs. I wish they could have just reused one of those heads, it would keep a little consistency and he wouldn't have to have that horrid 5 o clock shadow to hide the fact he looks just like two other guys.

When i get Grand Slam, he will be getting Ace's head, as i think i may be its only fan.

As for Grunt, the 5o'clock shadow and lack of visor might be enough to allow him to remain intact. But if a better new-style head presents itself, off it comes. He could end up with a repainted Hawk head, since my Hawk is adorned with CP Duke's noggin.

Grunt never came with a visor. :-|

Yeah.... that's why i said lack of visor ;-)

Although i think i've flip flopped again. My Grunt is going to get Flash's head so he can go clean-shaven when he wants. Here's hoping we get a decent head i can swap onto Flash... and that they don't screw up Steeler, Short-Fuze, and Zap!!

Well Steeler sure has a lack of a visor....

I guess now I know who Command Hawk's arms are going to in case they mess up Steeler & give him those god aweful Duke arms.

Yeah, i keep hoping that is just a prototype Steeler pic and that the real one gets his trademark visor. It looks hand painted in that blowup, to me anyway.

Grunt looks nothing like me -- and you guys are a-holes. :P

I'm kinda meh on all of these. I have no need for more Crimson in my ranks, and I have plenty of Blueshirts. The Joe pack I might get just for fodder, but I'm kinda pissed they haven't fixed the Duke crotch yet. They should have given Hawk a new head - that pea head just looks like crap and sits too low on the Duke neck. But, the Hawk fig is primed to be a perfect LBC Joe Colton (just add a new Obi-Wan head.)

I do like that the Flash head works for an African-American. I had considered painting one up to see how it looked, and now after seeing Matt's PhotoShop work, I'm convinced. Some great potential there.

Thanks for the pics, Chrys!

I'm frustrated that Hasbro didn't reseat the head sockets so that the heads sat properly on the necks.

Flash's head works fine on Duke's torso and Hawk's head doesn't. I'm not sure what they were thinking leaving them be.

That said, I'll certainly pick them up as fodder all around, because I'm a sucker.

The Cobra packs, though, I'll wait for clearance.

Hey, Chrysophylax, is there any color variation between the 3-pk Crimson Guard and the single-pack CG? It just dawned on me that Hasbro might have done something to make them distinct from each other.

The painted visor on the 3 pack is a color variation.

And it really does look so much better than the single-carded versions... I'm sorta sorry I bought four of them. Guess I'll be painting them up to match these guys, and I'll only be grabbing two of these 3-packs... using the Siegie "Commander" rifles to arm my comic-pack Freds, and I bought a bunch of VvV Slice figures for their Cobra-headed knives that fit nicely into the leg holster where the stupid pistol just never sits right.

That'll give me 6 Siegies, fully armed, to run with Tomax and Xamot, and 2 Fred Series Siegies, similarly armed, to guard the Commander.

After that, I'll just need 12 of the Cobra Command pack, to finish my Trooper army (sadly I will wind up with 14 useless Commanders, and 10 unnecessary Officers.)

Right, the only difference is that the 3-pack has silver eyeslits. I guess I forgot about that since I painted my single carded & comic pack CG eyeslits.

I can live with the eyeslit variation, and add it to the 6-odd CGs I have so far. What's important is that the reds are the same, meaning I can have these in the same row.

I saw them at TRU today. I didn't buy any. I might get the Joe one, just for Grunt.

Heh...I just want Grunt's web gear. I don't like what they did with the figure's sleeves, but I figure the gear would look great on the upcoming comic pack Duke and, with a better head, instant LBC Grunt.

I might use the bloused sleeve Grunt for a new Zap body and bash the Hawk's bloused sleeves onto my custom Short Fuze so those two can be visually consistent.

Overall, the treatment the original thirteen have been getting in this line is kind of uninspired compared to some of the other stuff we've seen.
