I picked up the Mach 5 and the Racer X racer, plus the Pops/ninja assassin pack last night.

First up is a front shot of the vehicles with the figures in them so you can see how under-scaled the cars really are:
Image
I have no idea why they didn't just bump the size up another 5% or so, or reduce the figures' sizes.

Two figures in one car. Racer X's vehicles is a little more roomy than Speed's, so it doesn't look as out-of-scale. You get the idea that it's still not perfect though when you put two figures in at once.

Side shot with two figures:

Hidden features. These versions have pretty basic features (IE launchers). Pop out chainsaw blades or jacks would have been neat to see here.

Pops on the Battle Shell:

The ninja assassin is one of the better figures of the line. It's hard to go wrong with ninja figures though. He comes with a katana sword. No sheath or any other ninja gadgets. A mini motorcycle came in the Pops/ninja pack, so I guess you could give that to either one of them, as they both fit on it.

My favorite figure out of the ones I picked up is Racer X. I kind of like his car more than the Mach 5 too. Overall though, if you're not a big fan of the figures or vehicles, I'd suggest hunting for the reSaurus Speed Racer figures and Mach 5. That Mach 5 is hands-down the best one ever, and the figures are cartoon accurate...man, I miss reSaurus :(

Pluv already went over the articulation. I was surprised by the ball-socket joints in the hips and shoulders. Swivel biceps would have been nice. Seeing the articulation on these kind of makes me think this is the same style they're going to use on the upcoming DC mini figures. I bet they even use the same scale.

This line reminds me of the Nascar Racers line. Not just because of the "race car/racer car driver" thing. No, the way they did the vehicles and all makes them feel less like Speed Racer and more like Nascer Racers. As mentioned, larger scaled vehicles, pop out jacks, and other features would have worked better. It would have set the line back on it's own too.

Here's a link to the reSaurus line. Just look at the accuracy in the sculpts and all the accessories. reSaurus was the Palisades of the 90's.

So I'm sitting at my desk earlier and I happen to be absent-mindedly tearing off the label from a Gatorade G2 bottle.

I set the bottle down and it falls over next to another G2 bottle, then rolls a few inches away. They are parallel.

I look up at the monitor and see the pics of the 'wheel' motorcycle from the Speed Racer line.

I look at the two bottles.

I look at the monitor.

I look at the bottles.

An idea forms.

I think I just found the perfect cockpit for a Star Wars Pod Racer custom...and the engines too!

Must let Spectre and Sputnik know!!!!! :D

Why is no one mentioning the sweet yellow uni-wheel with rocket launcher?

Updated Buzzboar, here I come!

Raptor: I can't even tell if I'm being sarcastic anymore.

The uniwheel was the only thing I saw that I was seriously interested in. But looking at it last night, it looks like it'd be difficult to fit a RAH fig in there, much less a 25A fig. It's just too foldy-over cramped, imho.

I hope not they would be really underscaled then. :(

TRU also has the Mach car and the "corvette" looking one for $20 bucks and doesn't have a fig with either one, but they look to be 25th Joe size.

The reSaurus ones wouldn't fit in with Joes because they were sculpted to look like the cartoon characters. Some of their accessories would fit in though. The Mach 5 also should work with Joes, as the figures were in the 4.5-5" range.
