Any idea when the kickstarter will start?

Since Dr. Evil is a stretch goal there is no guarantee he will be made but if he does he will come with a removable mask.

I think the KS should start sometime in mid to late October. There should be a painted prototype on display at NYCC.

Mid October. It is hard to give an exact date because, from what I've heard, there is quite a bit of back and forth with Kickstarter before you are approved to go live with it.

I didn't realize this one was going to be a kickstarter. so are there going to be goals beyond just the one figure.

The KS will be for Captain Action and the rest will be stretch goals.

The stretch goal order will be Dr. Evil, Action Boy, Lady Action and the Silver Streak.

I would personally like to see different decos of Captain Action that are different superheroes or that can be easily customized into different superheroes. I think that might help get it funded because I don't see any "army builder" type figures to give people reasons to buy more than 1 of each figure.

Craig just said that there will be 2 additional decos of Captain Action that will be revealed when the Kickstarter goes live.

So how much should each of them levels be? Have we had enough comparable figure KSes to guage an average yet? I imagine getting the Streak will require a doubling of the amount for the four figures to unlock it. Could there be repaints of that?

Well looking back at the successful action figure Kickstarters :

HACKS needed $75000 for 2 figure bucks with unique sculpts and 2 additional figures that used most of the same sculpt with different decos.
MTFGF needed $30000 to produce 1 figure buck
Skeleton Warriors needed $45,000 to make 1 new figure and used some additional molds to make a lil' Glyco figure.
IamElemental needed $35,000 for 1 figure buck with some additional pieces to make 7 unique figures.
Legends of Cthulhu needed $65k to produce 4 unique figures with fewer molds due to lower articulation.

So my guess (and this is only a guess based on nothing more than looking at other KickStarters) would be $40-45k to get Captain Action made and each additional figure stretch goal maybe 20k so the levels would be 60-65k to access Dr. Evil, 80-85k to get access to Action Boy, 100-105k to access Lady Action. I'm not sure where the additional decos of Captain Action will be though. Hopefully they will be in the initial campaign and not stretch goals.

As for the Silver Streak a WAG might be at $150k to unlock.

So if they need about 45k to produce Captain Action and they sell him for about $20/figure. They'll need to sell 2250 units. That is a rough guess based on the other BFS associated Kickstarters.

a rough, but obviously very well informed guess. Thanks for that insight. I'm not all-in with this one yet, but it's clear to me that the various kickstart lines recently are superior to in-store content by a long shot, at least in this scale.

CA looks fantastic.
That head sculpt has character and the body could be a great base to create all sorts of different figures.
I hope one of the strecth goal will be blank bodies in single color.

Well, there will be no head sculpt if the Kickstarter is not successful.
Just remember that these are being made by a small company that has a passion to create quality product. Not, a huge corporation like Hasbro or Mattel that gets a giant budget to produce figures. And then reduces quality so that they end up being cheaper to make so the ROI is a small percentage higher.

So if you hope to just get a head cast later down the road just think about also pledging a couple dollars during the campaign.

On another note they are looking for a reliable factory and should start the Kickstarter in November.
