Yes I have...and it is very, very tempting. There is also a sub-marine in the same colors in the same line (I think it's been posted here before) that would make a great "companion piece" to this base. I still see it around.

I have that sub. It's VERY cool. This base is $39.99 (IIRC), so since I just bought the True Heroes blue/black sub, I'm going to hold off for now.

But thanks for posting this with picture. Was wondering if anyone else saw it out there. ;-)

I picked up the sea lab playset tonight and I've been messing around with it ever since. It's a pretty fun little piece: small, obviously, but it looks great and is pleasantly uncluttered on the inside (something the Animal Planet/Soldier Force stuff gets very, very right a lot of the time). The only real drawback, other than the usual Chap Mei cartoony sculpting in some places, is that the airlock has a pretty significant design flaw that I'm trying to figure out how to rectify: basically, when you turn the knob to open the door, it opens both sides at once; pretty much the exact opposite of how you want an airlock to function. It's not like that ruins anything, but I'm still going to make an effort to fix it just for my own peace of mind.

Frankly, I'm disappointed in the quality of the (Chap Mei) yellow sub, the black sub, and the undersea base. The plastic is VERY thin and cheap feeling on all of these - like a beach toy. I've collected Chap Mei since 2002 and it's never been this bad.

If you compare the black sub with the C-130 you will be very surprised at the difference in plastic quality. The C-130 feels like a classic Joe vehicle, the sub's hull is so thin you can feel it flex when you pick it up. I was shocked how light these felt out of the package, considering the size.

All of the large sets after this one seem to have had the plastic thickness decreased as a cost-cutting measure. The floor of the undersea base is so thin it's warped upwards. I also heard that the new 4-wheel tank vehicle with the foam dart turret has the same cheap feel.

My take is that these look awesome in the package and on the shelf, but don't expect the usual level of quality, and wait for a sale.

I can't speak to the sea base, but the black sub, doesn't feel lighter to me. I drilled through the walls to make actual port hole windows on the other side and it took as long as I expected for the power drill to make the cuts. And even with the new holes in the side it is still just as sturdy.

Looks great, Pluv!

Too bad the sea lab comes with a whale, while the package shows a great white shark.....
