I got the V2 as a kid so he was a Joe. I only knew the V1 from the cartoon, comic and G.I.Joe promo books. I got the V1 later and I loved him for his bad-assery as a Cobra. So I say both. I used them both in battles: the V1 as a Cobra and the V2 as a Joe. But ofcourse, never at the same time. I can still live with that.

I went with Cobra. On that team he's not only in his more iconic, original look, but he's Snake Eyes' opposite number. Plus I like the idea that as a bad guy, he wears white, while the good guy, Snake-Eyes, wears black.

I really like his Joe look, and the story that brought him back to the good guys, but if I display only one figure, it's the original Cobra version.

I voted Joe but its not like he is a super patriot. This is one area where WWIII actually helped a character. I liked the Solo series and that is my Storm Shadow's personality but when the writing was on the wall he knew who he had to fight for and volunteered to work with the Joes (Besides how many guys can join the most exclusive counter terrorist taskforce when they want to?)

post WWIII he is rebuilding the A-clan into a benevolent super secret ninja clan whose expressed goal is to halt the activities of the many malevolent ninja clans (Night Creepers, Black Drgaons, Koga's, the reformed red ninjas under Shadow Strike or Sei tin.) He helps those pupils who express interest get a spot on the Joe team.

Currently only Kamakura, Tiper Paw, and Jinx are active on the Joe team. T'j Bang, Dojo, Nunchuck and T'gin Zu run the dojo when Storm Shadow is away and Ashiko is in the Joe recruitment program because of Storm Shadow.

Storm Shadow at this moment is helping Joe Team mamber (and former Ninja Force Comrade) Bamzai track down the ninja master who trained him after he got himself lost in the tibetian mountians prior to his time with GI Joe. Storm Shadow has always suspected that this was the Dark Master (Exiled from the A-clan) and Storm Shadow wants to make sure Banzai is free from any dark forces. He, Banzai and Bushido are on the trail.

I like the idea that Stormshadow has been manipulated into believing Cobra Commander can help him find out who killed the Hard Master.

Conveniently, the "evidence" CC has shared currently points to a member of the Joe team, so Stormy is happy to fight them and protect the Commander until the truth is known.

Meanwhile, CC is using the threat of telling Stormy the truth to keep Zartan and Firefly (who actually were involved in the assassination) in line.

To me it's classic CC, playing a very dangerous game on nothing but he strength of his persuasiveness. And it gives Stormy every potential motive he'll eventually need to turn on Cobra with a vengeance.

I voted Cobra on initial gut reaction. But honestly both versions have their own merit. If I absolutely had to pick only one it would be Cobra to balance out Snake Eyes but with "Both" being an option here I probably should have picked that.

Comic/Hama backstory is the only joe story to me, so he was a good guy all along. Not always a joe, but always a good guy.

I've honestly grown so sick of the character that it doesn't matter one way or the other to me.

ninjas in the G.I.Joe / any army is just plain stupid.

At least in the comics, Hama gave him depth. In the cartoon he was just another greedy bad guy with only a loose honor code, to sell another toy.
