I know the Renegades Storm Shadow is a great figure because it has the added wrists and combines the Renegades look with his 1st appearance look, but how is his design not just as boring as any of the other 40 or so Storm Shadows released in the line?
Hmm, a valid question. I think it's more the execution of the design (and the plethora of weapons) that people are really excited about. It's a "definitive" version of the classic figure design, much like POC Wave 3 Snake Eyes, that does basically everything right. Or as I heard it described by someone else, "
This is how I thought my Storm Shadow figure looked back when I was a kid."
A good question and a good answer. If someone told me, sight unseen, that they are remaking yet another Storm Shadow in his classic look, I would have yawned and expected to pass on him. But the sculpting, the gear, the insane attention to detail.... he can properly grip his kubotan for cryin' out loud! I don't just like to throw around the term "art" loosely, but this SS rubs up pretty hard against the line that divides art and commerce. The moment I saw the fist pic of him, I was in love. And everything I've said applies to the 'ultimate' Snake Eyes too. Prior to him, I hadn't been excited about a SE figure in years (I never bought into the Resolute SE hype, a cool, but not ultra-supreme figure).
Storm Shadow and Lifeline are the only 2 figs from the Renegades line I am excited about, which is surprising, given I usually don't buy the anniversary rehashes.
