Well this was what I expected and was the last thing I wanted from Covergirl, Am I mistaken or is this a repaint of a con figure? I was kind of sleeping the past 2 years on those. I think I would have been happy with any of the other 25+ options people were speculating rather than this. My count now is 3 I want, 2 I am on the fence and 5 I could care less. Not a good ratio and at this point I think it's safe to say I am expoloring other means for the 3 I want.

Yeah it's straight up Sparta:

http://www.yojoe.com/action/11/sparta.shtml

Just an added jacket and belt. I had hopes they'd work in a different torso. Maybe movie Cover Girl's torso with the rest of those parts and a different head would have been impressive.

I thought I had a vauge recollection of thinking adding the jacket would make her a good CG, but wasn't positive if it was here.

But I will say that making here a pretty much straight repaint of a con figure is utterly disapointing and feels cheap, especially for a "Premium" figure as these are being promoted as.

:-/ eh OK.
They better not be $25 each. I'm sure lots of people that were on the fence will not subscribe.

I tracked down the post that started it all. I was going off other people.... which they "assumed" and we all know what that gets...

Anyway the original post says THIS week, not today. So apparently after the next reveal it goes live. Here's what was actually said:

Quote:
G.I. Joe Collectors' Club I think THIS is the way it will go down...

1. The final figure reveals THIS week!

2. At some point afterwards (days not hours), when it is ready... the sub service page will go live. ALL the details including pricing will be on that site. The price PER FIGURE will most likely not be less than $20 and not more than $25. (Remember carded Dial-Tone sold for $25, the goal for the sub is to be less expensive than that. These figures are EXPENSIVE to make with new parts on many and TONS of paint deco, but we are doing the best we can to keep the price down.) There will be more than one payment option - details to come.

3. Subscriptions will be accepted for 4 weeks from OFFICER LEVEL MEMBERS. You can have multiple subscription. They will ship bundled to save shipping for the subscriber.

4. After 4 weeks subscriptions will no longer be accepted.

5. It is possible there will be SOME individual pieces of SOME of the figures available DOWN THE ROAD, most likely they will be sold for a premium to non-subscribers IF we have them. Final production numbers will be dictated by the number of subscriptions, so these will be LIMITED and will probably bring high prices on the secondary market - even the ones YOU don't like.

NONE of this is set in stone and reflects what I am hearing. These details are ALL subject to change as we move forward.

PLEASE do not share this on the internet. I am going out on a limb and these DETAILS MIGHT CHANGE and probably will

Be nice... please?

P.S. The poll here was NOT a vote for the next batch of sub figures. I hope if you saw the poll, you can see how diverse the wants of the fans are and how difficult it is to please everyone.

Thank you, that's all that I know and it is NOT FOR SURE.

Sometimes Facebook sucks. If you miss the original post made then you have a hard time tracking it down and tend to just read other people's posts "spreading the news". Which is what I did.

Anyway, we'll know more this week and I still say that around $50 with shipping is what we'd have to pay...

Was this Seriously on their Facebook page?

Yep it was. As if their Facebook page is super secret. It's all the goofy secretive things and odd way of handling that caused the big uproar with fans thinking the price was going to be announced.

  • Quarrel - repaint
  • NanoBAT - repaint
  • Topside - new head :topside:
  • Dice - repaint
  • Grunt - repaint
  • Iron Klaw - not really new parts just canceled parts
  • Jinx - redone VvV head that can't be expensive to do
  • Barrel Roll - another redone head I think
  • TNT - repaint
  • Surefire - new head OH SO THAT IS WHY ALL OF THESE ARE SO EXPENSIVE! :-P
  • Cover Girl - repaint
  • Big Boa - pending
  • #13 - better be all new parts!

Even converting an existing sculpt from an older figure to the new format still requires cutting an entirely new mold. They save money on sculpting, but that's probably the least expensive part of the process. Also, Grunt and Dice both look to have new heads as well. I think Cover Girls jacket might be new too. Wasn't the Comic Pack one more windblown?

I am looking at mine now, and it looks the same.

The arms are too thin, they don't look like a jacket, especially when you compare her to Sparta.

but like all of these at ten dollars shipped I'd buy her. She'd get a neck swap and new arms, but would be a good base for a covergirl custom.

unfortunately I don't think ten dollars will be the price....

The body is movie Scarlett. I'd assume they could be had cheap off Ebay. This is one figure I could say I'd rather make a custom. Out of all the ones we've seen, I know this one could have been better.

Dice potentially has a new head, we're not sure if the mask is removable or not. Grunt has a new head as well.

By my count, there are 4 new heads (Topside, Grunt, Sure Fire and Big Boa -not confirmed, but likely), 2 retooled heads (Jinx and Barrel Roll) and six complete repaints. The 6 new/retooled heads are probably enough to blow the Club's tooling budget, so I'm guessing that the 13th figure will have, at best, a new head. Hopefully I'm wrong.

As much I love the brand, I just can't support this subscription program.
None of the figures presented so far have wowed me and premium figures should do that.

It's their first FSS line up and it should be so amazing that we should already be looking forward next year's line up, but it's not.

I agree with this, I just don't see anything that makes we want to sign up, if these were available at retail I would have passed on most of them at $7 each.
