Right, they want a Tan Grunt that goes with the rest of their 25th OG13 figures, not one that's updated.

So in the second year of the subscription service, there's bound to be a tan Clutch. Yawn.

NOOOoooo!!! *clutches his WIP tan Clutch*

Heh, so the rumor list seems to be true now.
I want 4 out of 5. Mostly because I'm not confident in making my own.
They could have tried to make the glider in the original's colors.
They also should have named him Sokerk! http://www.yojoe.com/action/int/arg-sokerk1.shtml Darker colors too!
Definitely they shouldn't be over $20 each!

wasn't there a better m-16 that came out with the TRU 3-pack Grunt?

And I'm going to pretend pluv didn't mock the :blowtorch: sculpt which was one of the better 25th ones. :bobross:

What? Blowtorch is HORRIBLE... unless you're just posing him on a shelf, and he's not trying to hold his flamethrower... That was my least favorite 25A figure because he exemplified all of that design's flaws...

Anyway... Tan Grunt...

Lame. It's good for what it is. Or what it should have been- a $4.88 25A figure.

That is the most boring figure ever made. It's not awful. It's just *there*. Maybe nostalgia fanatics will love it, but I would consider a comic-pack that came with that as its second figure a rip off, much less a $20 subscription exclusive.

Sputnik hit it exactly. It is a great sculpt but as a moving figure it falls flat. The armor doesn't quite sit right. The arms don't bend anywhere near 90 degrees. I could look past all of that of it wasn't for the fact the helmet, mask, hose combo comes apart somewhere if you touch it wrong.

And they decided to release THE EXACT SAME FIGURE with green gloves and a couple new weapons for the PoC line. (Say, when is that mid wave colour change version supposed to come out?)

I like the glider. It's a nice nod in its own way. Replicating the original just would not have been feasible and I'm sure we all know it.

The figure overall is a little plain, but so was the original. This is a tribute to one of the most obscure early figures. And unlike his Cobra counterpart, who just had a different-colored Cobra emblem, "Tan Grunt" was a full uniform recolor.

Every time I think of these guys, I remember seeing a three-foot-high stack of those long, near-flat boxes outside a K*B Toy when they were first released. I still have my original figures, but the gliders are long gone. They didn't fare terribly well over the course of a couple of moves and some less-than-cautious storage. :(

Keep in mind, specifically in regards to the PoC Snake Eyes tooling... there is a lot of tooling that Hasbro is still using and still has control over, and its very likely the Club can't get access to it. That being said, I'm still not all that excited about this figure, but just so you realize why they didn't use some of that more recent tooling supply.

Not to mention a lot of collectors these days seem really into this straight up vintage reproduction stuff. Not sure why...

That makes sense that the club may not have access to the tooling for the POC stuff.

As for why we want recreations of vintage looks: Nostalgia!!

I love getting figures based on vintage looks but with all the articulation and detailing ability of modern standards. I'm not against new characters or re-imagining old characters but I often get a feeling from classic looks in modern articulation that's harder to capture with newer stuff that have no memories attached to them. That said, I have no use for a tan Grunt. I've already got a regular Grunt that works fine.

Can you imagine if they took a page from the Star Wars fans and let us GIJOE fans vote for the figure we wanted?

"Honestly, who voted 15,000,000 times for Big Brawler?"

At least you can give him an Marauder John M16. Those are the best ones out there right now.

Quarrel, no. Nano-B.A.T., no (Robots don't wear clothes) Topside, I like the head sculpt, but, no. Dice, cool but no. Tan Grunt, I really like it. But, not $20 like. At $10 I would buy multiples.

If anyone gets a subscription, and wants to trade/sell Tan Grunt, let me know.

Though I'm not interested, I do wish they had used the updated Zap mold for this one (thighs and feet).
