I picked up the Dark Shuttle glider yday to investigate its usefulness towards a TARGAT; and it's a decent piece but there's no way it's worth $10. These are the pieces that should be coming instead of the useless umbrellas to make the Deluxes worth their cost, imho.
The Deluxe figures are my only real gripe with this line. Taking a regular figure and regular figure packaging, throwing in a few semi-useful bits and bobs, then jacking up the price 50%.
The umbrellas are attractive and if they were full-sized/proportioned umbrellas or beach parasols, they'd be much more useful for dioramas. But as rinky-dink things, I haven't figured out any use for them, other than maybe decorative wall hangings.
The best bits of those are probably the snazzy transparent blue building materials. I'd be all over a builder set that came with a sizeable number of those.
The gliders I quite like some of them and am not really bothered by the price, though I wouldn't object if a few bucks have been knocked off by the time I get around to buying them.
I'm just not sure what to do them. As I'm not into the game, having characters use them as hand gliders doesn't really resonate with me. And the lack of a stand (like the MacFarlane gliders) makes that less easily doable anyway.
I wouldn't mind having them as delivery drones (like Amazon's imagined future), if I can figure out how to attach some cargo to them, then maybe just hang them from strings attached to the top of my shelf.
