I hate being right sometimes.

So, not Hasbro's decision at all?

Who would have guessed that?!

I'm not surprised they want Tatum back. He's gaining steam as an actor, and they probably want the option to include him to draw more money.

Wait, a GIJOE movie where Duke doesn't die?

Why does that sound familiar?

So, what would turn around time be for a new run of figures?

'Cause I just can't see how Wave 1 and then Nothing is a good thing for the brand.

But then again, I can't see how "Hey! New Movie! Psyche!" is a good thing for the brand either.

And I definitely don't see how "Hey! New Movie! Don't Panic! We're redoing it for next year!" is a good thing for movie-goers either.

I kind-of feel sorry for Hasbro here. Kind-of. I'm still mad about the F.E. Prime stuff. But this has really got to suck for them.

(Why not just push it out, take your loss, and then make sure GIJOE 3 is a good film? Cause now, "Retaliation 2.0" is going to have to be that much stronger of a film.)

Because if it's considered as bad as some early reviews are saying, and panned like RoC was, there probably won't be a #3. I liked RoC and think it did decently world-wide, but if Retaliation doesn't perform at least as well as RoC, I'd say Episode 6: Return of the Snake-Eyes is a long shot.

As much as I disliked Tatum in ROC, I have liked him in his other movies. It is kind of dumb to kill A) a brand hero like Duke, B) a Actor who is rising from the C-list, to the B-list or even A-list.

This all makes sense movie wise, but as far as Hasbro's side with merchandising... someone's gonna get fired. Paramount might be able to throw away millions, but I guarantee you someone is getting their backside handed to them right now at Hasbro Corp.

Now they wasted money on shelf space, for product that's being held back, and the retailers will have to find items to fill the voids, which are a waste of money for them.

Seems like Paramount must be making all the decisions, because this doesn't bode well for Hasbro's main purpose in this role.

J-Man's link, AICN, other places that got previews or interviews with people who got previews; they're all giving it fairly poor reviews. Now, the problem with that could be that they're still mad about the first movie and taking it out on this one, or they're comparing to other movies currently out, or any number of things. It does poison the well, though, as people will see or hear those reviews and either not watch the movie at all, or go into it with a pre-formed negative opinion of it.

Hasbro has no say in this decision. Why on earth would they decide something like this if they did? This is NOT going to be good for them nor will it be good for the brand. I'm sorry, but anyone who thinks that Hasbro would willingly put themselves in this position needs a good smack upside the head for having no sense.

Yeah at some point they'll have to realize Hollywood is making more money off of their properties than they are. Transformers was good, but Universal sank their Battleship (pun fully intended) and now Paramount is doing the same w/ GI Joe.

Kind of feel bad for the joe website guys who've jumped in to help promote the movie, that was a waste of their efforts as well unfortunately.

Variety reporting that Joe will have no retail presence during hiatus and that retailers are being instructed not to sell retaliation still in stockrooms: http://www.variety.com/article/VR1118054684

It's just one media outlet, but it's better than an Internet rumor.

stockroom stuff may still go out if they already did peg resets for it, plus managers who make the store decisions may have taken some weekend time off this weekend. if it's out tomorrow, i'd grab what you want then as otherwise it might get boxed up & returned.

i'd think that if stores had made space already that they'd want to sell what they had out, seems like a hassle to do another aisle reset after doing a couple for summer films already.

and obviously, it's stupid to pay ebay scalper prices since everyone knows this stuff will be out again in 9 months.

I agree with this, if it makes it's way out to the pegs, they will sell it. If it is still in it's original shipping container, I would put decent odds on merchandise getting shipped out.

Was the shelf date the 27th or the 28th? I thought it was 28th...

Yeah that's what I've known and expected. Just got confused with what PaidLoad was saying about "tomorrow". I would have to imagine that both Target stores here will be putting everything out. I just need to be there and get what I want otherwise once stock is sold through, it's done. By the time stuff comes back out, we don't know if there will be some changes. There will be another Christmas come and gone and another Toy Fair. That's a good time frame that new ideas could come up.
