The only really bad dialogue that made me wince so far was Destro saying, "What the hell?" And the Baroness explaining, "It must be GI Joe!"

It's DESTRO. He's not going to be taken aback by some guns and explosions in the distance. He'd probably say something more along the lines of "Ahh, our guests have arrived."

I dont know about Gung Ho but from the teaser clip we saw from last yeas Con, Roadblock isnt dead.

Remember his famous line that everyone quoted for a while?

"A ninja? I didn't know we had a ninja."

And we have yet to see that scene, so RB is most definately not dead. ;)

Actually they said that was just a quick promo they put together for marketing, not any part of the actual show. So Roadblock may very well be dead. :-/

Awww man and I've been waiting for that scene too. :(

I think they've restored what this franchise was lacking: life. From the get go, we know people can actually die, even if they are big names. This really ups the ante quickly, and the deaths seem to make sense not just promoted to get more viewers.

So far I absolutely love it. The best part to me? That they can't fill with annoying endless exposition - the pace is so quick they can't sit around and blather, they have to get to it. The sense of "anyone can buy it" makes it feel actually dangerous.

Love it love it love it!

It's funny, in few minutes we've lost so many main characters...
Is it a "what if?"

We have?

What main characters have we lost besides Storm Shadow?

Bazooka and Major Bludd, while cool, were never really "main" characters.

And those are the only confirmed deaths we have so far.

(except the 10 million in Russia...)

I'd argue against that, given that Bazooka was pretty key in the old 'toon and saying Major Bludd wasn't "major", if you excuse the pun, is a little disingenuous.

I'll give the show this, there's a good sense that anything can happen making it easier to get caught up in. Tunnel Rat on the stratolite (or whatever it's called) is one example. I was expecting something to happen but couldn't tell what. Even though TR survived so far, I don't have the usual sense that "oh, he'll make it out ok" like you typically would. That's good... the hooks are in and holding tight.

Wait!!!!!

How do we know if Storm Shadow is dead or not? Did we see him with a mustache?

Bazooka and Bludd are both dead with mustaches. Roadblock and Gung Ho might have been killed. I bet they are since they both have mustaches.

Live Action movie isn't out yet but clearly I don't think it is going to they're taking the same approach. The Movie is going to be a Parody. Resolute is just bad-ass. If only this was a full length animated film.

Couldn't have said it better myself. I'm going to give the L/A movie a chance, but I'd be first in line if Resolute were made into a major motion picture. I really like the series, but limiting the episodes to such a strict timeframe has been a bit choppy. I'd really like to see the story fleshed out in more detail.

Just thinking about this lately...

Everything I miss about Sunbow is here, but in enhanced form:

• Cool tech that's bleeding edge. Back in the 80's, giant communication sattelites were super high tech - not every day as now. So the Stratelites thing made me go "Awesome! I never imagined that!" Ditto the high altitude balloons - Joe going to the unknown again!

• Sci fi plots with military awesomeness - the best part of Joe is what happens when you put a bunch of regular dudes (with spectacular skills!) into the weird/high stress situations. What do normal soldiers do when given amazing tasks?

• Firefights that are dangerous, but can go on for extended amounts of time: I loved Duke and Scarlett's battle - enough that its dangerous, longer than an actual gunbattle, but still potentially lethal (a difference from the 80s!)

• A focus on many characters without having to shoehorn in "fanwanks" – just give us the characters, the wink wink nudge nudge crap that Tformers fans ooh and ahh over is overdone. This is Joe - we wanna see our boys go to work.

I'm starting to get a feeling that the new Live Action will be to Resolute what the Original Toon is to the Original Comics.

What exactly points to the two unknown Joes from the stratolite being dead? They fell, but I imagine the packs they had on were chutes incase something went wrong.

Its nice to see that this toon kinda takes over where everything else left off. Yeah they twisted the Hardmasters death story and Snake Eyes Mute story though this maybe a better version. It continues on after cobra Island, after the joes disbanded reformed and all that.. And we see, after so many years No one is pulling any punches. Theres no "You fought well lets go home now" That it use to have. Cobra wants GI Joe dead. Hes tired of being sold out every 5 minutes. And now instead of burring people alive or leaving them for dead He send out his men to straight up slaughter the guys..

Then theres the Joes. I am so glad Hawk sent them all to target practise for the last 5+ years. They can actualy hit someone now. And man when SS & SE went at it, That was a fight. Yeah SS yapped to much, but he had to tell the story, cause SS sure couldnt. So far so good, Keep it coming. (now if they would just kill off duke and fix the mistake from the original movie)

Anyone else notice how the actor voicing Destro throws in some Sean Conneryisms?
