People can come up with the craziest stuff some times. I guess army builders will get added to the scum of the universe list or those evil people who do things like buy fixed figures of earlier releases of figures they already have.

Only scum is the scalper scum, because all they are doing is preying off of other people. If you collect one mint and one loose, army build, customize, or what ever I've got no problem because it's Joe figures going into the hands of Joe collectors. Yea I get upset myself at how the figures can be to find, but I'm happy other Joe fans are buying up figures because that gives Hasbro the kick in the rear to keep rolling out cool stuff.

Thanks for the link danielb. Thanks for the suggestion CJ. I think I will put it in my sig.

I agree with Kambei's opinion:

Personally, I believe that the customising fraternity is a lot closer-knit and friendlier than the hardcore collecting community. At least, that is the impression I get.

Joecustoms is one of the first websites I found when I started collecting Joes again around 2004. I find it great that everybody here not only gets along so well, but genuinely seem to like each other. I only discovered Hisstank last year. It seems there is always a flame war of some kind going on over there. My point is that I had been lurking around here for so long before that I guess I was expecting the same from every other website. It never even occured to me that customizers might be looked upon differently elsewhere.

Anyhoo, like Nomad said

I don't think that for one second. There are a lot of "hard core" collectors that are as tight knit as many customizers out there. In fact, many of them work together to help their friends find items and are happy when someone they know has a good score. All the things that make Joecustoms a great community also exist elsewhere among people who enjoy other parts of the hobby. :)

There are guys at every level of this hobby who are in it for the competition and the competition alone. Maybe they are losers in real life and like to big men online. Who knows their reasoning. But, it's there. Those are the guys who don't tend to be as friendly and will work against you. It doesn't matter what aspect of this hobby you enjoy: those are the guys to avoid.

haha funny thread. I remember when I put up on yojoe.com forums all my customs containing TF Outback parts. They were actually more relaxed about it than we (in the chat) expected.

We shouldn't be, were the ones making everyone's collection rare and valuable.

That should be the new joecustoms t-shirt...

"GIJOE Customizer-Making your mint collection that more valuable."

could add "since 1982" on it...

We also have that thing here of being able to agree to disagree. Lots of different taste around here with what someone loves someone else just can't stand. But none of that mess about one fan being better than another fan over what they find cool or not cool.

If you've ever found yourself in the middle of some "true fan" war then you know how nice it is to have a place where people can disagree like adults.

Any of you guys have a copy of that 1984 promo flier form Hasbro that "teaches" kids to customize their figures? It has a picture of Duke and a sharpie pen on it. Oreo, you should make that image your avatar or in your signature or something.

There's a copy of it on Yojoe.

Reading some of these posts, I'm thinking non-customizers should thank us for buying up all the peg-warmers. :shifty:

I think I've bought at least 4 Buzzers for customs. :-D

EVERYONE is disliked by somebody.

People resent customizers, army-builders, MOC collectors, openers, people who play with their stuff, Sigma 6 collectors, 12" collectors, etc, etc.

JoeMichaels70 is generally disliked wherever he goes. Being a customizer just give people another reason not to like him.

I don't like him either.
