I checked on the way home tonight, and the Target near me still had the single Cobra Trooper figure for $6.84, tomorrow will probably be a different story.

Strangely enough, I found a Spirit, Wild Bill, and Viper for $5.99 at K-Mart yesterday. I snapped them up, who knows if they'll ever be that price again!

This is an outrage. I absolutely refuse to purchase any Joes from Target unless they have something I want. :shifty:

Or forced to keep using those $5.00 off coupons just to make for the price increase.

[makes note to print off a few more]

That won't happen. On Target's website, they said the coupon is no longer gonna be valid, becasue of "fradulant use".

Well looks like I won't be shopping there anymore. I will try maybe once to use the coupon then leave my items at the checkout & walk away.
So far my Target was still $6.84 for a single & $9.99 for a comic pack. I refuse to buy any single carded figure over $6. Just as I refused to buy any Star Wars figures for that price. As long as HTS gives me 10% off I will most likely buy from them, KMart($5.99), or Meijer($5.99).
My Walmarts still have comic packs at $9.88.

Every toy line will get an eventual price raise due to the oil crisis.
The raw material and the shipping of our little figures keeps on rising so its unavoidable that the price gets up in store.

Up here we pay $10 for our Joes at TRU.

How much are the comic packs? Still $9.99?

Ask the Manager, "If two figures and a comic together cost $9.99, why does one figure cost $7.99? Shouldn't it be less than $5.00?"

the comic packs right next to the empty figures pegs still said $9.99. for the most part all the had though were wave 1 an 2 Comic Packs but they were still marked $9.99.

$8.00 is about the average rate for a Joe figure here in Canada. $7.92 at Walmart, $7.99 at Zellers and $9.99 at Toys R Us.

It still bugs me that the Canadian dollar and US dollar are pretty much even nowadays yet so many things here in Canada still cost more.

Where did you get the coupon from? Did you get it from the Birthday email that Target sent out? If not, then it falls into "fraudulent use"

The big issue about fraudulent use from people who spoke with Target manager's, was people were using whiteout, to erase the "toy" on the coupon and reprint it and would buy non toy stuff. One manager said they were loosing big bucks on diapers, something like $150,000, because of those altered coupons.

But it's also "fraudulent" when it's sent to one person as a gift to use once, and it get's passed around on the net and someone prints out 6 copies per page and uses them over and over.

With the internet these days and message boards and sites that are nothing but coupon sites, I bet anything that stores will do the less and less.

They had it on their website for a little while.
I find it ironic how fast they can discontinue it & everyone knows it isn't good anymore. While no one seemed to stop getting them accepted for things other than toys before. Was there no inter-Target email system to say only accept for toy purchases?

or have a bar code that can be scanned from the coupon to verify what it's for. gee, not like technology like that doesn't exist.

Go to K-Mart, the comic packs are 9.99 and the single figures are 5.99. The one here (Jersey Shore Area) always has stuff because nobody shops there, and they stillhave a ton of the 5 packs left too

There was nothing about the coupon that gave any indication that it was only for a select few or that they got it as part of some rewards program.

All I saw was a online coupon that said, "Buy $25.00 worth of toys and get $5.00 off". That was the terms to which I was using it.

People post promo codes for HTS and deep discount dvd all the time.

I was using the coupon according to that phrase. I was not altering it to get something else.

How is one to know this coupon was not intended for everyone to use? There was nothing on the coupon or with the coupon to even suggest that.

If I was changing the words, images, or using it to get diapers, then that would be fraud.

I may not have known the original use for it, but I was following what the coupon said.

This sounds like a problem that Target could have taken care of earlier. If 85,000 people received the coupon, then the coupon should have only been able to be redeemed 85,000 times, right? If they allowed it to be redeemed in numbers more than that, then they need to be more on the ball. It even should have said, "Single Use only" or One Coupon Per Customer.

Every one I used had a bar code and stated it was for toy use only. I used it for what it was for. All they had to do was tell their employees to scan it and if there wasn't $25.00 in toys rung up to be purchased, then the coupon couldn't be accepted/used.

Two cashiers had tried to ring in the coupon first. It wouldn't take it until the money total was over $25.00.

It is a sad day when everybody says K-Mart is the place to go for GIJOE figures. They still have POTC figures for $5.99, Star Wars figures for $8.99, and most everything else is cheaper elsewhere.

That's b/c on most maps and globes canada is far away from everywhere else, so stuff has to travel farther to get there. Except santa claus. So you get that tradeoff of cheap christmas's for expensive everything else. :)

Also, can't believe this thread has gone so far without:

OMG DETH OF TEH LINE!!!!!!!!111!one!!!one!!1!!!

wait, might be applicable here..
