So how close is it to accurate scale then?

Because I'm still not impressed, but finding out that it was pretty close to 1/18 would make me drop the $150.

I'd say size wise, it's almost dead on, to the exterior mockup used in the movies. The interior is still going to be a little small, seeing as the Falcon always seemed to have a bit of a TARDIS effect going on, in the movies.

Pretty sure I saw either in Hasbro Q & A or a spec sheet that it was about 16 pounds.

Which means the average star wars fan can't lift it :rotfl:

I ran the numbers on this once, just to make myself not consider it. Came up in the 60" diameter range, if I recall correctly. I decided I'd rather do a few other projects, rather than die doing one big one.

Seems as though the big hollow vacuform Falcons that used to hang in TRU in the late 90s were about as close to true 1:18 scale as you can get. The BMF is closer than the old one, sure, but not quite there. I'm guessing...1:24 scale, maybe?

I have to thank whoever first took that new-vs-old size comparison shot (and HH for posting it here)...I was fairly certain I was going to pick one up, but after seeing that, there's absolutely no doubt now. :-)

That's like half the size of my apartment, I don't even think it'd fit through the door... I wonder if I really need that couch, hmmm...

Do what I'm going to do with it... use it for a coffee table.

I'm only half kidding too.

Just to kind of skew this thread a scooch, I'm even impressed with the Galactic Heroes version of the Millenium Falcon I saw for the first time the other day. I'm not a fan of gashopon in general, superdeformed or not, and until recently not a fan of Star Wars figures, but I seriously considered picking this thing up, but passed on it because I know it would take me down a road I didn't want to go down.

This BMF, though... man I may get one, if I can find it. That 150.00 price tag, err. Does it seem to anyone else that the Hasbro Dept for Star Wars readily accepts their adult fan base better than GI Joe seems to?

I don't think it's a matter of Hasbro accepting adult fans for Joe or not, I think it's them knowing that the portion of Joe fans who'd pay $150 for anything is a pretty small portion of the fanbase.

...and that the Star Wars franchise is much larger than G.I.joe. It might rise up after the movie drops,.. but the clone wars movie may rise the Star Wars franchise even larger.

This is what I've been thinking for quite a while now. Just basing it on the size of the cockpit, I could see the TRU Falcons being closest to actual figure scale. One of those TRU Falcons would look great with a scale X-Wing and the new(er) scale TIE Fighters chasing it!

I'll admit that those of us that are willing to pay $150.00 for anything is pretty small, but there are a whole lot of us that'll pay $50.00 and more for the larger vehicles and/ or playsets. We were lining up to buy multiples of $80.00 phantom product tanks at the last convention. We were clamoring to buy multiples of the Target vehicles. If Star Wars can sell $70.00 lightsabers, I'm sure GI Joe fans will buy a new headquarters or terror drome at 50 or 60. or 80. or 90.

I'm not saying that Star Wars isn't big, (though every store I'm going to seems to be, with fifteen pegs clogged with pegwarmers and stacks of vehicles going on clearance) I'm saying that Hasbro is erring on the side of caution, and strangling what was a considerable enthusiasm for this line, while they go whole hog over and over for Star Wars.
