As long as it's been brought up, what DOES Beach-Head's "75" patch stand for?
75th Ranger Regiment -- it's the only real Ranger unit in the Army (separated into three Battalions.)
And now you know...
Actually, that's not what Beach Head's patch is. It's the
75th Infantry Division:

Yes, I'm well aware Beach Head is SUPPOSED to be from the 75th Regiment:
BUt they have a different patch:

True, but then again, the designers of every Joe toy ever made were pretty much idiots when it comes to actual military insignia, so it doesn't really matter anyway.

I mean, they gave Flint the wrong beret device (SFG enlisted DUI on an officer wearing a black beret) and nearly everyone else has some defunct or reserve unit insignia and wear it improperly. The only exception seems to be Falcon, who's actually wearing the right "LASER BLAST" (albeit upside-down and in the wrong color.) Funny that they seemed to get the USMC guys' insignia right, though - wonder if there was a Jarhead somewhere on the design team

But good catch - my bad. I never really bothered really looking at BH's patch, and I knew it wasn't the same as the Ranger Scroll (since I see it every day - one of my buddies is a veteran of the 75th RR), but I never knew about the 75th Division because it hasn't been in the active Army for nearly 60 years. I just focused on the number 75, since all Ranger units are part of the 75th Ranger Rgt.
Oh, and the link you provided is just for the Ranger's DUI - the crest they wear on their berets & Class A epaulets.
The patch is actually here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:75_R ... signia.svgNice work compiling all the unit insignias from the toys -- I don't think I've ever bothered to look them up. Some are the actual patches, some are metal insignia, and some are beret flashes (the Anti-Venom one is only a flash). I think the toy designers must have looked at an old book of unit designators and just picked the cool ones for the toys

This is highlighted by the fact that Spirit's DUI has a Tomahawk (it's from the 2nd Inf Div, BTW, not 2nd Army. 2ID is the "Indian Head" patch, and they focus on Korea and the Pacific.) -- The 104th patch has long been a favorite of mine (since I dig wolves), but I'd forgotten that CG wore the patch.
Good stuff - thanks for looking it up!
