Not a big fan of Gristle or the headhunters, but if these look nice and the BATS aren't another rehash of V2 I'll get the set.

Very cool, all in all. Okay a few specific thoughts:

Gristle
Not a lot of detail in this brocure about this one. Not really sure what to expect. Might be a comicpack Buzzer head on a different body. If not, I expect a full Gristle repainted.

two Headhunter Guards
this could be anything. I expect a recast Headhunter head with a generic body.

six Headhunter Stormtroopers
hmmm, we can hope for a complete Stormtrooper, but I have a feeling it may be a recast head (whicd isn't my favorite to be honest) and either a TARGET or a Night Viper body.

six B.A.T.s
I'm not sure what to think about this. This statement:

Quote:
Battle Android Troopers) disguised as ordinary production robots,
makes me think that it might be some of the 6 pack robot rebellion figures, because they looked a little more industrial.

but then there is this:
Quote:
and vintage Battle Android Troopers

Well, if it says vintage, then it seems that it's the original. Maybe they recast the head and the torso, used BAT 2 arms, and then used the existing BAT legs. OR maybe they found the missing molds. OR maybe they're using the BAT 2 body and a recast BAT 1 head. (I would almost prefer a generic soldier body with a BAT 2 head and a SpyTroops rubber mask to make it look human).

Joes
Quote:
S.W.A.T. (Special Weapons And Tactics) experts to infiltrate and shut down this dangerous operation.

Shockwave seems like a given. I'd love a version 1, but I'm guessing it will be a version 2 with perhaps a v1 head (which would probably be big for the body. I'm wondering if there will be a "inflitration" expert? If so, Jinx or Scarlett could make an appearance...although I'm all for a new character.

im expecting Bats v2, but id crap myself if they somehow found the v1.

Hasbro stated at a con a few years ago that the V1 BAT mold was available. It wasn't around for the Internet exclusive, but was found later. For whatever reason, though, it was never used.

Quote:
if the club managed to get the gristle mold back from south america, its possible they also got the original stormtrooper mold back too.

The inclusion of Gristle seems an odd choice were they remaking molds. As such, I'm holding out hope that these will be the original molds. The HH, HHST and Gristle were all in Brazil at the same time so if they found one, they probably found them all. Plus, Mace was released about the same time as these figures and Hasbro did have that mold back. So, this has some decent potential...especially if it's the original molds.

I know that MC insiders have wanted to make this set happen for years. I just find it odd that they would waste the fan favorite HH, HHST and V1 Bat all at once. You'd think they'd get more bang out of those molds.

there is a decent amount of SWAT guys and guys who would look great in SWAT colors

Shockwave v1
Shockwave v2/Sure Fire v1 & 2
Lowlight v3
Long Arm
Bullet Proof
Mutt v1 or v3
Law & Order v1 or v3

I'd love for them to take some of the molds like Bulletproof or Long Arm and recolor them

Well if we're talking Chuckles we have to throw in Mace too. He's an undercover agent and fits in with the other molds recovered.

I hope they don't do Mutt only because we got the Tiger Force version from the club a couple of years ago.

I'm really excited about this set. Its been one of my most wanted sets since the MC started doign them. I wasn't expecting the BATs but that isn't a bad thing.

Oh, come on.

You all KNOW who's going to be part of the SWAT team.

It's gotta be Sure Fire.

Can there be ANY doubt whatsoever??

On the rest of the figures - everyone knows that Gristle is a major part of my Joe-verse and I can't wait to get a new version of him, even if it's just a repaint. Plus HH guards to protect him! Awesome!

If they do have all of the original molds, they probably want to make them ASAP before the molds are lost again ;-)

Does anybody else think that $275 for a boxed set is starting to get a little pricey?

Member level prices for prior boxed sets, in the MC online store:

2004- $220
2005- $210
2006- $220
2007- $268

Hrm. I guess last year was the year where the prices shot up, not this year. The price increase this year seems to be mostly negligible.

Just tell me they are NOT going to use the original Storm Trooper body. Those arms were too low on the figure.

If that comes to pass here's what I want done with my Sure Fire's at the Con:

1. Carefully open the set
2. Remove them from the box/bag
3. Throw them as hard as you can at David Lane's skull. I mean I want blood here

Hey now. Wishing violence on *real* people when it's not part of the usual buddy-to-buddy style stuff on the site (like my wishing a :sackpunch: to BadAsh) isn't ok and you know that. :-P

David Lane is a real person?

I thought he was just a sad little plastic man.

My bad :shifty:
