Well, now that the figures are out, they're pretty disappointing. They're listed on the packaging as 3 1/2" figures. They originally pushed these as 3 3/4", but Mattel and their ever fadding grasp on the toy market failed again. The cars are way under scaled too. The figures look like they're riding go carts. They needed to have made the cars bigger or the figures even smaller.

Some of it looks neat. I like the big Mach 5, but they didn't make a figure to fit in it. The Hot Wheel cars are neat, atleast Mattel didn't screw up one of the type of toys they are most known for. Over all most of it isn't that great. I'll expect the most of it to end up on clearance. The movie however looks like it should be good at least.

I got some fo the figures yesterday ofr some of the accessories. Those removable helmets (with clear visors) are pretty sweet. I put it on the 25th Flash and he looks more like Matthew did in costume at last year's Con.

They are small. But for me that works for diversity reasons. Now my Joe civilians have some kids and teenagers running around. Oh and a monkey and a guy that looks like Paul Barrier. :D

Articulation wise it isn't quite as bad as expected. Head is old school side to side swivel. Shoulders are ball and socket. No arm swivel but they do have elbow pin joints. No wrist swivel which would have been nice, but I can add that. No waist articulation at all. Ball and Socket hips offering decent articulation considering they look like t-crotches. Finally knee pin joints. Nothing for the feet. I give them a 2 1/2 out of 5 instead of the 0 I thought they would get. With the ball and socket hips they would be doing any high kicks or anything but they sort of make for the lack of waist articualtion with some realistic pivot poses.

Wal-Mart had them for $7 something. They were ok for that price play value and customizing wise but I'm going to wait until they clearance them before getting any more. Also watch out for some stuck joints. A couple of the ones I got had their legs fused to the T crotch.

Some comparison pics here, they are great for diversity, if still a bit pricey:

The only thing good about these is that they give me a faint hope that the DC figures won't have COMPLETELY crappy hip articulation.

But yeah, 3.5", non-articulated garbage. Nice helmets though.

I saw these at Target tonight.

I'm not impressed that they are a quarter inch short of what everyone said they'd be.

I've gotten to the point that I am now looking at other products to see what potential they have for JOE/Star Wars customs.

That said, here is what I liked:

-Pops (with some work he could be turned into a Dreadnok or the one Biker Zartan was hustling pool with when Cobra Commander contacted him about the Japan job)

-R-guy (can't remember his name, but he's the suit guy. Possible US Senator/Cobra Attorney)

-Ninja (could work as a young/teenager ninja-or petite female ninja [teenage Jinx?]

-the 'Big Wheel' (seriously I have been trying to figure out how to make on of these for my Dreadnoks. I do have a 'Little Person' Dreadnok character that could drive this)

I'm holding off until they hit some form of clearance or sale though.

PS-Iron Man action figures out too.

(I wonder what a set of Iron Man armor would look like with some beer manufacturer's colors on it instead of the traditional IM colors...

Pabst Armor...
Busch Armor...
Samual Adams...
Heiniken...
Molson...
Silver Bullet...)

i think i like the hasbro ones better. lots of pats on the back up in rhode island over not making them disproportionately thick.

My local TRU was putting out the Speed Racer figure display and I saw the Joe-sized Racer for 40 bucks and saw it at Target for $5 bucks cheaper. Nice ride for a sci fi-type vehicle, has action features and stuff. The fig that comes with it is taller than a 25th Joe, but the car seems perfect for Joes.

i think there's supposed to be another wave coming out without the action features though. may have to doublecheck bbts or somewhere though to be sure about that, but it seems like there's either a slightly bigger scale coming out of the vehicles or a second wave that doesn't have the action features taking up space
