Feels like a kid mixed all his :hasbro: toys together and wrote a comic about it.
Feels a bit forced.

It's about damn time .

Seriously.

They've been dragging their feet with regards to this . I visit joe sites daily but haven't bought a joe...hell I don't recall the last time I bought a joe at retail. I buy the comics . I'm literally a fan that wants to support Joe but feels very little passion for the offerings from the last few years . The movie product did **** all for me. The classic designs are nice but I don't really care for the modern Era "bucks". Reimagining ...come quickly!

Right -- and you think it'll be an improvement? Or that we'll ever see anything as cool as the Real American Hero and the original figures?

I hear "reimagining" and all I think is, "Well, that's one more pop culture concept that'll be dead in the water to me."

Need I remind you of Sgt. Savage? Or G.I. Joe Extreme?

If we're really lucky, they'll at least let Larry Hama continue to do his RAH comic.

While i don't have much hope that it will equal or surpass ARAH ( which was amazing) i'd rather something be tried than nothing at all.

In fact.....i wouldnt mind ARAH simply being updated to reflect the modern times i.e. cell phones instead of rotaries / lan lines , green shirts with modern infantry designs, etc. . And before anyone says it NO that is not what the movies were.
I mean the same ARAH characters tweeked ever so slightly to reflect the current times (not given accelerator armor *which i liked btw* but not as something that belonged in GI Joe).

Personally i liked a fair amount of the IDW joe comic not written by Hama (especially the run where chuckles went undercover in Cobra). Most of the 80's ARAH designs look goofy if you weren't a fan of the toys as a child but the core of the story remains solid and timeless. ARAH needs a new skin not a heart transplant.

ARAH needs a new good artist. Hopefully this new joined universe doesn't ruin the TF comics which are good comics. I know one will be losing a awesome artist which sucks. I hope a new joe comic will have a good artist too....

That's exactly what it feels like.

"And then GI Joe showed up an' said, 'You're goin' down, Transformers' and then MASK showed up and said, 'We'll stop them!' But it wasn't really MASK, it was Miles Mayhem! and then... and then... Oh, oh! And then ROM Space Knight showed up! And the Micronauts!"

I think the shared verse could work fine. A shared comic where all the properties are simultaneously in each would not. But I take this as more of an intro, and judge it accordingly. Any title would suck with that much always going on at once.

Not sure the last free comic I read that was any good though.

A shared 'verse can work fine, if it develops organically, or if it's mapped from the beginning to be intertwined. But they're taking disparate properties, including their backstories, and trying to smash them all together.

which comic book verses have ever been mapped from the beginning to be intertwined?

I'm not arguing for this book. But I'm also not holding it to a higher standard than I would the hot mess that is DC. I'm much more interested if anything useful develops from it, toy-wise TBH

Oh, I won't argue that others are any better, and beyond maybe Ultimates, if you count that, none have really been designed from the beginning to be a specific way, or at least none I can recall. But generally, it's a matter of a new property suddenly showing up in an existing 'verse, not several existing properties crammed into a new one. I'm also not saying it can't work, just that this preview does not give me high hopes. As far as DC, DC only exists for me as far as the Arrowverse goes anymore. I gave up completely on their comics long ago and their movies have left me unimpressed.

I just think I would have preferred if they would have given each property its own comic and let it run, or in the case of the properties that already have comics, let them keep going on their own. Then do some crossovers here and there until it's established that all these are taking place in the same universe. Little things like MASK developing their tech in a similar way the tech in TF:Animated or the movies was reverse engineered from a captured 'bot or 'con. It looks like that's where they're headed with it, but I'd prefer if they had established the characters first, then brought in the big reveal.

^ Are you referencing Marvels current (The) Ultimates comic ?

I'm definitely supporting the MASK comic . Transformers , despite my having next to zero interest in the toys , as been arguably a top 5 best written comic for years now so i'll continue to at least pay some attention to it. Joe will always have my interest despite **** all being done with the brand.

Basically despite it striking me as a forced hot mess i'm along for the ride.

I guess what they say about comic fans being just like wrestling fans is true ......
