Ah. I thought the pics were from the slideshow when it was shown at JoeCon. If they were from the newsletter then I can understand them asking to have them taken down. They get really protective of the newsletter which is understandable since it is supposed to be for paying members and is one of the perks of membership.

Yes, the new picture was from the Club newsletter for this month. The slideshow reveal at JoeCon was essentially just the box art of the 2001 version, if I recall correctly. Whatever it was, it was definitely art only.

For those that didn't see it, it appears that Sub-Viper uses the ROC Aero-Viper helmet, 25th Barbecue torso, 30th Techno-Viper arms, and some fairly non-descript legs (I think they were ROC Paris Pursuit Snake Eyes). No idea on the head itself, though I doubt it will be anything other than a generic masked head. It is definitely not simply a Repulsor repaint, as one might have expected given that the original was a Sludge-Viper repaint.

They were ROC Paris Pursuit SE legs. Kind of an odd choice IMO.

Wonder if they'll sneak in a proper Sludge-Viper made from those parts now.

A Sludge-Viper in FSS4.0 isn't out of the realm of possibility.

I'll be down for this vehicle as I'm a sucker for that SHARC. It was one of my faves as a kid and got a LOT of play.

Never owned a SHARC myself. It never really "clicked" for me.

But I do want that Sub-Viper a lot.

I remember using the SHARC in the pool quite a bit.

Pryer to this new club one, there have only been 5
Original '84
Sky patrol '90
Wave crusher '01
Night specter '08
25th update '08

This one is very reminiscent of the '03 joecon hammerhead subs.

There was the original Night Force version, the Night Shade, and the vehicle was available for most of the duration of the mail order time, so it was one of the most long-lived vehicles in the line. So many of us are sick of seeing it :-)

One other thing to note is that despite the SHARC getting quite a few releases, it hasn't been released since 2008. I'll take that over yet another AWE Striker, even as much as I like that vehicle. In fact, out of the vehicles from the 25th line, that may be the one that has gone the longest without being rereleased aside from Serpentor's Air Chariot.

So now that I got my club approved picture in the mail, I'm still not impressed. Not only is a vehicle that just doesn't get much attention, they didn't really do anything special with it. If they are going to reissue a repaint, do something that many collectors don't have already. How about the black and yellow Action Force VAMP? Or how about the Dreadnok Ground/Air vehicles? Those would get way more interest than this thing.

AWE Striker: the Snake Eyes of the vehicle side of the house. Maybe because the Sharc was never a "WOW" vehicle the few rereleases we've gotten make it seem like it's overused, where as the AWE really kinda has been done to death since the 25th line.

Personally I like the SHARC, it just appealed to me. I have the Sky Patrol version, an 84 version and about six of the 25th/Night Specter versions. Since this is a Cobra version with a new figure, I might be interested in picking up a couple to supliment my EEL team.

You call five an "only" !? Because I don't.

Oh, definitely! Granted, the VAMP has seen a heck of a lot more versions than the SHARC, but at least this would be something that was never released in the United States. I'd gladly get this!

Yet another reason I wish I had been able to re-up my club membership. Wish I had seen the pic before it had gotten taken down.

Once something is on the internet, it never goes away.

1. Google "joeclub wave crusher" and search.
2. At the top of the search page, click "images"
3. It's the 5th picture in the top row.
4. And now you you know.
