What I expect to happen is that current prices will stay the same and when the price of oil goes back up then figure prices will rise once again. And the companies will cite rising oil prices and their profits will continue to grow because no matter how much adult fans complain they will continue to buy the product and justify it by saying that at least they have something to buy. Because everyone knows that the adult consumer drives the market and if we don't buy the crap on the shelves at whatever cost the companies set then they will jerk our favorite properties out from under our nose and we will have nothing left to enjoy in life. Without new product on the shelves how are we supposed to enjoy the large amounts of product we have bought in the past and stored away in boxes or opened and stuck on a shelf to never look at again? So never mind the price of oil or the price of doing business, toy collectors will pay whatever the asking price to get slapped in the face with "better" forms of 30 year old designs and will gladly say "thank you sir, may I have another?"

Well Target increased prices on figures. Just came from a Target that completed the reset and Marvel Infinite, DC Multiverse, and Star Wars Black Series 4in are all now $12.99.

I've said this before and people think I'm stupid. The price of oil is down because we (the American consumer) have cancelled our oil import deficit with domestic production. Lower oil prices may imperil some of the new production in the US. Increasing prices from China, transport costs, and port difficulties have also hurt prices and distribution.

Bring toy production back to the US, and strike down all those problems, employ Americans, and improve quality control, plus cut out the ports and their labor shutdowns.

It doesn't matter where the toy is made if it's still too expensive, and I don't think I can name a single instance of a product line going down in cost because production costs go down (at least, not once the suits have the next quarterly planning meeting and notice how their profit margin has increased).

With the 50th anniversary we're getting 3 packs at 22 bucks and 2 packs at 15 we are getting joes at about 7.50 a piece. The per figure price has reduced. But you may have to get a figure you don’t really want. However i don't think thats a big problem for customizers

Which is why they're obviously flying off the shelves, right? Price isn't the only factor, it's usually just the first factor.

And the crazy thing is TRU, who is normally the price elevator, actually lowered there DCMV figures from $12.99 to $7.99.

I know one thing for sure, with figures costing so much, I'm less inclined to drive around and do toy-runs. It's actually cheaper for me to buy online and a lot less hassle. I'm starting to think the lack of retail options had an effect on raising prices. Going back 12-15 years ago, we had K-B Toys, FAO, K-Mart, Sears, JC Penny, Mervins, and whatnot. Less retail outlets, less variety and competition. One the flipside, everytime prices on figs go up, I feel less guilty splurging on Japanese figs. I'm definitely buying less overall, so I guess that's a good thing :-|
