I think the most important piece of news is the talk about pricing.
Materials aren't what is driving the price, it's the manufacturing cost. I think that's why our preferred scale is dying out at mass retail.

Well that burns, I was looking forward to getting a bunch of these.

Oh well more money for Boss Fight and custom projects.

Well Dang.

Bad enough the Magic the Gathering figures were in this scale, now this?

Guess it means more for the sites that are shrinking, sculpting, and casting.

I saw the new Age of Ultron figures, and they looked like child meal pack-in toys. Sad.

I'm honestly surprised they even considered a super articulated and detailed line in the 4" scale. Given the pricing of their other 4" lines and the quality of them (good but not at the same level of detail as their 6" stuff) I didn't see how they could do Raven level detail in a 4" scale at a price collectors would tolerate.

The same way Boss Fight is doing it. To be fair, their other 4" lines were attempting to get a specific look and I think they nailed that perfectly with them.

Companies have made very detailed super articulated figures before in 4" I don't see how those 2 things negate the ability to do them for a reasonable price.

I wasn't basing my opinion on what other companies have done, but rather based on what the 4 Horsemen have done. Look at the Power Lords or Outer Space Men. They are good solid figures but don't have anywhere near the sculpting and paint detail that the 6" Ravens and other 4HM 6" lines have. To do 6" 4HM quality and detail at reasonable 4" prices is something they couldn't do and they admitted that.

The 4 Horsemen are a 6-7" scale group. That's where they've made their names and reputations and its what they do best. I'm not saying they shouldn't branch out and stretch their capabilities and skill set but rather than force it they did the right thing, in my opinion, and backed off rather than produce something that wouldn't sell.

when/where exactly did the 6" scale start in the first place? I don't mean first ever, but as in 6" specific collectors like many of us are specifically 4" or 3 3/4" collectors. I grew up in the 70s and 80s with 3 3/4" being THE scale. so Ive played with that scale for at least 35 years and collected that scale for at least 25 years. so I sort of get pissed off with the 6" collectors and the 6" lines, I know its dumb and I shouldn't get mad but I do, because in some way I guess I feel like im expected to negate my 25 years of collecting and my probably 1000 figures and jump on board the rising bigger more in the way 6" scale and replace EVERYTHING! most of which cant be replaced.
I don't really recall 6" being that big till the marvel legends line which seems like yesterday to me, not saying that's when it started that's just when I remember really seeing it a lot more.

It's yet another crappy effect of that hack Todd McFarlane and his Spawn line. That's where 6" collecting roots from, which is why they still value sculpt over articulation. 18th collecting really roots from Micronauts, which is why articulation and vehicle/playset playability are so strong in our community (despite the temporary blip of 5poa SW figures coasting on the license for awhile until Joe came along to truly cement the desire for figures to be properly articced for playability in their own right).

Yeah, when Todd McToy started his own company he explicitly wanted figures larger than the then ever present Kenner 4 1/2 to 5 inch Batman line.

As far as the 4H announcement goes, I am terribly disappointed. But as others have pointed out, it's less money spent and more money to spend on Boss Fight projects. I really only (mostly) wanted the skeleton warriors anyway which Boss Fight will provide with cool color varitions and accessory options and Re-Ment will provide with an almost Ray Harryhausen flair.

Warms my heart that so many of the Facebook responses to their post are negative. Like everyone else has said, more money for the stuff I really want. :)

All it's really added up to is a yearlong ball-tickling for people that could have been new customers but that now are left with a sour taste for anything else they might come up with. The only people they're gonna sell to now are MOTU collectors, essentially.

Wow. My interest in this line just made the Pacman dying noise.
