Hiss 2 forever. The blue version is awesome, too. Though the DTC hiss is a close second, especially if you swap the missile launchers for Crimson Asp guns.

I've got to give the edge to the DTC version. It took the original version, which would be a close second in my book just for tradition sake, and really amped it up and made it more threatening and tank-like. I wish we'd seen a few more versions of it. HISS II is also definitely up there.

I'd probably give it to the original, though the HiSS II and DTC come close, the II does need some counter weight since it's rather front heavy (especially with 2 in the cockpit). One day I will own a DTC HiSS.

The Pursuit of Cobra/30th versions are really good, the weapons leave me a bit cold though. The Retaliation HiSS is a good remix, needs to be lower and the gunner needs to be able to sit lower.

They all come close, but the 2005 "dtc" HISS has stood out more to me as a favorite being it somewhat combines the style of the '83 HISS and HISS II. Combining as in retaining the track styles, the driver canopy and open gunner spots, as well as having an interior rear compartment. I like the "dtc" HISS size, too, being somewhat in scale. The "chin guns" and forward rocket launchers add some more punch over the other versions for me, too.

I would still would like it more if the "dtc" HISS had a rear hatch, as well as a better armament for the turret.

The more hexagonal shapes of the turret weapon spots, and the snap-in positions of the turret still take away from the "dtc" HISS for me, too. So my favorite HISS is not an out of the ballpark hit for me by any means.

I think I've still got a DTC MIB if you're interested. I'm thinking something like $20 is reasonable, I guess. PM me if you're interested.

I actually have a strange love for the blue and black version of the JvC Hiss. It's pretty far down my list of favorites, but really embodies Cobra's, "F practicality, we're making it look like a snake" mentality.

HISS 2 by a landslide. The two-seater cockpit (with cool lowering mouth-access!) and the troop compartment in the back make it no contest. I had an original HISS as a kid, and at some point I took the turret off so I could jam a few Cobras into the interior. When the HISS 2 came out, I put the turret back on the old one and used it and a second one I found along the side of the road as escort vehicles for the larger, cooler new one. It's got such great detail in the sculpt, too: the surface is busy as hell, but it works for me. I never got the Club version, but even though I like the darker blue, I'd probably still prefer the light-blue retail version for purely nostalgic reasons.

Crap; now that I've been thinking about it, I want to track down another one.

TRU was fickle about what exclusives it would take. IIRC, the Crimson Sabotage set was offered to TRU, and they turned it down. So Hasbro made the Vamp/Whirlwind set for them and sold the Crimson Sabotage to KB.

You found a HISS by the side of the road!? Poor thing, but at least you gave it a home.

I would really love the DTC HISS if it had a few cannons on it.

If you're talking about straight repaints then it's the H.I.S.S. III from '00.
Otherwise it's H.I.S.S. II.

Definitely H.I.S.S. II. Just wish it had more troop capacity.

For questions like this, I always have to consider the "what would you save if you had to ditch your whole collection" issue. And hands-down, it's the v1 HISS. Real-world practicality doesn't even come into play; it's the most iconic vehicle of Cobra. It's mysterious technology that only Cobra has. If all I owned were one HISS v1 and one VAMP v1, I could still be a happy kid.

When it comes to newer versions, the DTC is pretty damn cool. And, if they had put the Retaliation turret on the v5 black HISS, that'd be the ultimate modern update (short of that "Resolute" HISS custom that guy did once).
