That's not what people are complaining about. It's the trumpeting that "Hey, you get this by Christmas! Look, something we didn't screw up!!!!".

Each time the club gets a chance to redeem themselves, they seem to figure out how to look bad. Seriously, shut up till you have stuff in hand. Why bother disappointing people?

That about sums it up for me.

That and they didn't meet the quota for the 2nd run of Oktober Guard figures but they are still going to go ahead with it. So when they see all the expense of having this in their inventory they will off set the cost by increasing next years set. At this rate will be lucky if next years set is $360 or less.

Yeah, we're kinda blaming them for dragging their feet every step of the way so that they are cutting it this close for Christmas and thus got bit in the ass for it. I mean, it's been over a year since they announced this endeavour. Maybe if they approached their club with half an air of professionalism and seriousness they wouldn't be open to us feeling schadenfreude when stuff like this happens.

I'm not mad at the club because this is legitimately out of their control. Yeah my hopes of having the first two figures by christmas are dashed but the harbor strikes are affecting a lot of companies, more everyday.

Well I think this is in order.... 8-O 8-O 8-O 8-O 8-O 8-O 8-O 8-O 8-O 8-O ...... :-/

Seriously, is anyone surprised? When they put out that message that the figures would be in the buyers hands by Christmas, I knew they wouldn't be. It was flat out stupid for them to suggest this would happen. FSS wasn't hot on the radar at the moment. They should have just kept quiet and started shipping them when they got them. If it happened to be before Christmas, well hot damn there is one of those surprises they love so much! And that one would have actually be well received. Instead they committed themselves to expectations that in the end they could not deliver. No, the labor dispute isn't their fault. But setting the expectations was. Half of any operation is managing expectations and the club is flat out the worst business I have ever seen in that department. The only expectation you know they will deliver on is that they will disappoint you.

I wouldn't be surprised to find out that they had a hand in arranging the labour dispute...

In this case, making themselves look bad would have been not saying anything at all. If they had NOT announced when they expected these to arrive, people would have been complaining about not hearing anything. In fact I'm pretty sure I saw those very complaints back towards the beginning of the year. Now they made an announcement and something happened that NO ONE expected and they have no control over at all, and people are complaining because they said something about the FSS for a change? When the club makes a legitimate complaint, I can understand the bad feelings about it. But this? When the strike was first heard about, everyone should have expected this to happen. There's nothing the club could do to avoid this. Acting like they are at fault is just damn stupid and really shows how spoiled we've gotten. Is it frustrating that there's a delay? Yes. Should you be directing that frustration at the club for it? No. Direct it where it belongs. You don't blame the pizza place because their delivery driver was in an accident on his way to deliver your pizza and thus delayed your delivery do you?

So they should have just said "Screw it. There's not enough interest." and not done it at all? Seems to me like they decided to take the holiday into consideration and go ahead to give people more time to order when they were able. See? The club did something GOOD and someone complains. They're damned no matter what they do.

It'd be nice if more people would direct their anger at the reason for the strike instead but no, getting our action figures on time is more important. Damn FunPub! I don't care about the millions of dollars lost, I want my Big Boa! :angrymob:

Hold on there. I never said making the second run was anything good. I was never for it. It contradicts everything the club has said in the past about "convention items are for the convention". They made is point abundantly this past summer. When they sent out the survey on a second set I filled it out and said "no" to the idea.

All I see from this is them raising the costs and pocketing some easy money. They don't have to advertise the product other then a few emails, they are taking pre-orders so the money wasn't to come out of their pockets and neither was the risk.

It's greedy and it's lazy.

Don't believe for a second they are doing this for us. There is a long list that people have asked for that they just won't do. Here's a quick list of what people have been asking for for years:

A) The price break down on convention items
B) An advanced list of convention items
C) A chance to buy convention items with the Homefront Hero sets.
D) Loose FSS figures to go with a carded set.
E) When MOTH came out people wanted a loose set.

I could go on but those are the of the top of my head. Those are the things people ask for the most but most of that doesn't put a quick buck in their pockets.

Im actually a supporter of the club, and have been for nearly a decade. I buy all their con sets, set up at their conventions, etc. I do my part to support them.

What I find amusing and downright SAD at this point is the complete and total ability to screw up just about everything the past 18 months or so. Some of it not within their control, but a lot of it definitely is. Their PR is horrible as well.

What has your (Pyre) personal experiences been with the club?

I support the club too... in all its many many flaws and issues. They have problems but I just keep hoping they'll right the ship sometime. It could happen.

waiting till Jan for the first shipment of FSS isn't a big deal. hopefully it won't stretch into Feb.

Yes... I Do. The Hypothetical "Pizza Place" is responsible for hiring it's delivery Driver. I expect the Pizza Place will hire responsible delivery drivers who avoid accidents and deliver the pizza in the time frame the "Pizza Place" told me to expect Delivery to happen.

While I don't agree with the idea of a 2nd run of the OG sets, I think the Club is making the best decision it can in that case...Fronting the cash to meet the MOQ and allowing people to continue to pre order from that supply... I'm guessing that MOQ is probably around 500...

Just for the record, I had a pizza delivery order get lost in an accident. I not only got my pizza at no charge later that night, but they also threw in a free pizza coupon for next time. Their good customer service made me want to order from them again.

I don't know where I was going with that...oh look, lunch time.
