I paid a hundred bucks for Voltar on ebay back in june. I bet this second run [that may or may not ever become reality] will drive that price down to eighty bucks. He was the only figure I ever had any interest in from that whole set.

The GIJCC has given people another reason to not go to the convention. Why spend all of the extra $$ for airfare, hotel, food, etc., when you can stay home and get the one thing you want a few months later? Oh, well, I guess Brian Savage gotta eat.

Makes me wonder if they would consider making previous years sets more readily available...

I'm impressed by this move.

Yes, it's a way to cash in on what was clearly a set that he initially underestimated demand for. And yes, it's too little too late for the folks who already payed scalper prices for the set on e secondary market.

But it's also sending a message to those scalpers that they shouldn't count on the club to protect the value of their short-term "investments." And that is something that may well cost Brian some initial sales down the road.

just knowing that this kind of thing is a possibility will almost certainly make some of those scalpers think twice about the Golden Ticket and walking out that first day with all they can carry and more. And I honestly don't know if the additional sales to fans will make up for those likely future losses.

So at least as far as I can smell, this is something the club is doing as much if not more for fans than for profit.

that gives plenty of credit to their business acumen though. Just as likely is the desire for short term profit with disregard to long term ramifications of the choice. See that a lot more often these days.

G.I. Joe Collectors' Club What I was trying to convey is that this situation is rather unique as demand far exceeded expectation for this set and making more of the Oktober Guard does not represent a shift in the marketing of Convention sets going forward. Basically, the additional run represents the added number of sets we would have run the first time had the schedule and timing of registration permitted.

Is there another potential set that would have such broad appeal? There is no way to really predict that. We were a bit surprised at how well the Oktober Guard set was received based on sales of previous sets. Production runs are difficult to estimate in the best of situations and as things were a bit uneven for several reasons at registration time, we felt it would be a service to those who didn't buy a set NOT because they procrastinated, but because the sets sold out. We would have taken those additional registrations at the time had we been able to alter the production numbers so late in the manufacturing process.

Our goal is to provide a great figure set to the community in numbers that better align with the demand. The secondary market is what it is. The membership is our primary concern. It is difficult if not impossible to please everyone, but we always strive to do the best thing within the constraints we have from time to time.

You know, a lot of people have expressed the hate for exclusives of highly anticipated characters over the years. It sucks that now that someone is actually trying to rectify that issue and get these toys out to more fans, they are getting so much grief about it from people who don't want their financial investment spoiled.

I just think it's funny to pay THAT much for a convention set and really expect it to be worth as much as gold, haha. It doesn't bother me at all that they are doing another run since I got the set for myself. Everyone I picked stuff up for only paid me what it would have cost them if they got the set at the convention themselves. I don't feel ripped off and I hope those who wanted me to get a set for them doesn't. It's better to get for wanting the item than get as an item to resell. If you collect for investment, this is the wrong hobby to be in!

Good for them. To anyone sitting on the supposed 'value' of these things... They are toys. They aren't SUPPOSED to put your kids through college.

You could do that before this second run with the Hometown Hero or whatever its called option. The only difference now is that they didn't run enough to fill the demand so those that wanted the set without going to the convention missed out and this is an effort to rectify that.

I think that post of pluv's from the Clubs Facebook page says it all.

Yes I'm sure a bit of frustration is because the added supply will satisfy demand and bring the after market prices down a little (maybe)

But how many times has the club played the "We're just a small group of guys who are only able to put out "X" many exclusives per year... it's a lot of work... etc, etc, Wahha."

What are we as Club members giving up to get the club to put their limited efforts into reproducing these sets?

It's very disingenuous...but very much in the Club's MO. How can you advertise the Convention Exclusives as Convention exclusives with a limited production run, and then go back and re-up the numbers after the fact when you see there's more demand for your items. And at the same time they will pull word tricks with Exclusives at the convention calling the Carded figures "club exclusives" so that Golden Ticket buyers are unable to obtain the number of exclusives expected...

All in all it comes down to the Club's "LASER BLAST" Communications ability and the fact that Joe Fans are hopeless Crack heads who keep brining their money back to Dirty Daddy Savage every time they need a new fix.

As someone who had been underemployed for the past five years I was extremely saddened that I missed out on these TOYS, While I appriciate Supply and Demand as I am a social studies teacher I am happy to have another shot at these great figures now that I am more flush.
I would like to get every Modern Figure the club has produced instead of using my LBCs (Dialtone, Footloose)
