Yes, it's a way to cash in on what was clearly a set that he initially underestimated demand for. And yes, it's too little too late for the folks who already payed scalper prices for the set on e secondary market.

But it's also sending a message to those scalpers that they shouldn't count on the club to protect the value of their short-term "investments." And that is something that may well cost Brian some initial sales down the road.

just knowing that this kind of thing is a possibility will almost certainly make some of those scalpers think twice about the Golden Ticket and walking out that first day with all they can carry and more. And I honestly don't know if the additional sales to fans will make up for those likely future losses.

So at least as far as I can smell, this is something the club is doing as much if not more for fans than for profit.

Joe Collectors' Club What I was trying to convey is that this situation is rather unique as demand far exceeded expectation for this set and making more of the Oktober Guard does not represent a shift in the marketing of Convention sets going forward. Basically, the additional run represents the added number of sets we would have run the first time had the schedule and timing of registration permitted.

Is there another potential set that would have such broad appeal? There is no way to really predict that. We were a bit surprised at how well the Oktober Guard set was received based on sales of previous sets. Production runs are difficult to estimate in the best of situations and as things were a bit uneven for several reasons at registration time, we felt it would be a service to those who didn't buy a set NOT because they procrastinated, but because the sets sold out. We would have taken those additional registrations at the time had we been able to alter the production numbers so late in the manufacturing process.

Our goal is to provide a great figure set to the community in numbers that better align with the demand. The secondary market is what it is. The membership is our primary concern. It is difficult if not impossible to please everyone, but we always strive to do the best thing within the constraints we have from time to time.

Our thought is that a certificate included in this run would be different enough that the two runs could clearly be identified.

The GIJCC has given people another reason to not go to the convention. Why spend all of the extra $$ for airfare, hotel, food, etc., when you can stay home and get the one thing you want a few months later? Oh, well, I guess Brian Savage gotta eat.

It sucks that now that someone is actually trying to rectify that issue and get these toys out to more fans, they are getting so much grief about it from people who don't want their financial investment spoiled.

Makes me wonder if they would consider making previous years sets more readily available...
