Yeah, I'm just waiting for the first products with Snow White, Cinderella, Princess Jasmine, Princess Ariel, Princess Sleeping Beauty and Princess Leia...

I WISH the Star Wars team had more to do with the Joe team!

Their recent small-scale vehicles have been better Joe vehicles than Joe vehicles! You have the Wave Crusher, the A.G.P. and even the Buzz Boar!

Hasbro has been mastering the SW license for a while. It would be stupid to give it to somebody else.

As for Star Wars 7, I'm pretty sure Lucas won't be far far away, so we'll probably get something similar to the prequels.

Bring back models. Please. I don't care that it's not realistic. Just do it.

I can understand your motivation, but I don't think that adding beautiful women to the franchise will help make better movie.

Actually Daryl Depriest has been in charge of both similaniously for about two years.

Also, Like it or not, Matty has been the #1 toy company for decades, Hasbro has been trying to break the #2 for a very long time and usually falls sever million short each year. Something to ponder.

I actually think Star Wars going to a competitor would be the best thing for Joe, because then we could have real competition again, and Hasbro would stick propping up thier own in house property.

But it isn't likely to happen. I don't like monopolies, and Hasbro really has the 3 3/4/ 4" toy line in their pocket, and I am a leary of Disney owning so much too. It's too easy to crush the competition at that size, nothing new grows, and there is no reason to drop prices, or to innovate.

Daryl is actually higher then that, he just took Joe and Star Wars under his stewardship.

As for Matty, their main reason for #1 is their pre-school line Fisher Price. It actually out performs it's Girls and boys division year in and year out. Barbie was for a while the top selling doll, but lost alot of ground to Bratz and others. That was one reason they bought American Girl, also Barbie has lost alot of sales to Monster High, but that is Matty line so it helps them. Other then Hot Wheels, not much is going well for their boys division, which is where they are trailing Hasbro. That and games is where Hasbro rules.

Fun facts:
For a while in the 80's and 90's Mattel was the worlds largest clothes manufacturer in the world with their Fisher Price line and Barbie clothing (doll and real).

The bendy leg design of Barbie was used to make artifical fingers, Mattel would manufacture them for companies that made them.

That was on 60 Minutes or one of those prime time news shows back in the day. They showed how the bend and click articulation was being used to help those with lost digits. Really dang cool too.

.

Then why isn't Hasbro #1

Think about it, Habro has some of the most recognizable names on the planet, Does anyone on the planet not know Star Wars and The Transformers are practially household names. Marvel has become close to that status with the successes of Avengers and even the first three Spider-Man films before that. Even GI Joe is a name most people at least recognize in some itteration. Yes, with really only Barbie and Hot Wheels (and some might argue DC but I would only put Superman and/or Batman in that catagory) as "mega properties" they are still winning against Hasbro. Honestly what does that say about Hasbro when they have the knock out level properties and still only come in second in what amounts to a two horse race (Cause no other company is even close to being in that league).

And being #1 in boys (which I have never seen anything offically reported on in that status, but whatever), is kind of like being the best at the 50 yard dash, if you can't be proforming at the 100 yard as well people barely notice.

I'd be willing to bet African Tribesmen don't know Star Wars.

Shaka said "Mubota y' notoo" which translates into "May the force be with you"

Actually in all seriousness how many isolated tribes you think are left?

Well, that's a whole different question. Just one would be enough to say that there is somebody who doesn't know what Star Wars is.

Who cares? Of course there are people who don't know about Star Wars. Being #1 in action figures isn't going to make them #1 in overall sales, because action figures are in a long steady decline.
