Those look awesome. I want a Guy Gardner. Sucks about convention only. Hope that changes in the future.

The convention exclusive only part is probably due to DCs licensing agreement with Mattel. Don't expect to see these in stores any time soon.

Mattel sucks. Too bad DC won't yank the license away from them.

DC Collectibles produce many action figures of the same characters that Mattel does, but they sell them in comic and hobby stores so why couldn't they do the same thing with this scale?

They both make 6" figures and everybody seems happy, why can't they make 4" figures? Mattel doesn't even make 4" figures anymore outside of their movie related products. After Batman, when is the next DC movie coming out?

I was thinking the same thing, but didn't want to fan the flames.

Mattel might have exclusive rights to the 4" scale DC stuff. Just like when Hasbro did the Slaughter figure. They could only make it in a narrow window and only as an exclusive. The same thing could be happening here. Mattel has the rights to all DC 4" stuff at retail so if DC Collectibles wants to make a 4" line it has to be convention exclusive or not at all.

lol. no doubt. I agree with your last point too - just because one license is handled one way, doesn't mean the others have to follow suit. Each would figure to be subject to its own negotiated terms. And if the only way DC can put out their own figures and circumvent Mattel is this way, then so be it.

would be cool if they intentionally made more than a normal amount of con inventory so that the surplus could maybe hit the aftermarket somehow, more cheaply than usual.

What's really going to suck is getting a complete set without 1) traveling to every con these are sold at or 2) paying through the nose on the after market. That's why I'm not so keen on getting this first set. If they were offering an online store exclusive like through Graphitti or someone else then I'd go for it. But onsite convention exclusive only just means they are losing out on my money.

And that's the saddest part too. Because the images I've seen make these look really cool.

Well, if I was worried about these hurting Mattel's future DC offerings -- whatever they may be -- I don't think I need to worry.

Really, a CONVENTION EXCLUSIVE action figure line? It's a wonder they can justify the expense.

And who is "DC Collectibles"? Some sort of spinoff of DC Direct?

I have to say, I AM impressed by what I see here, although I don't expect I'll own them anytime soon.

And at least they're not "new 52" based.

The Flashpoint Reboot probably resulted in the name being changed because Flash's memories tend to do that to a universe's restoring or somesuch DiDio-spouted B.S.

This would be a dream-line at retail or as an Internet-only exclusive offering. But as con exclusives, they're a nightmare and a headache I probably don't need in my life.

DC Collectibles is the new name for DC Direct. They renamed it after DC Entertainment was formed last year.
