I was in the National Guard and was activated for Operation Desert Storm, if a fanboy wants to wear a cap of a toy ship, I don;t have a problem. I have a USS Arizona polo shirt that I wear, so I think the Flagg is safe.

So it looks like only the people who have to be angry about something will be the ones upset, no one else will care.

AS A VETERAN, I AM OFFENDED!!

But yeah, a fake hat from a fake ship shouldn't bother anyone.

Unless you wear a full fake uniform loaded with ribbons and try to pick up skanks with stories of being the bestest Navy Seal evah, I don't see too many vets getting offended.

however, there usually is that one guy...

I considered it for a couple minutes over the weekend, and came to the opinion that to wear at shows and such, where people get the joke, it's harmless, or out in public during regular day to day, but probably not cool to wear to a place where veterans gather, like airshows or the WWII museum. I know those Navy guys take their ship affiliations very seriously. Perhaps Jeremy's the one to ask?

My thought is, since they never served on the USS Flagg, unless they tripped on it on their way into their kid's bedroom, they can't get bent out of shape. I'm in the Air Force and I don't get all pissed off at Stargate fanboys. Until my unit actually travels through time, you just keep dressing up you crazy kids.

Your unit doesn't travel through time? I guess I was just in the cool squadron. ;)

So THAT's why your building has no windows! I knew it...

I view largely like wearing a jersey from your favorite sports team. Does wearing the jersey mean you're trying to pretend you're a professional athlete? Of course not. It shows that you're a supporter.

I give out hats and shirts from our Team all the time. Now, go down to the bar and pretend you're a Team guy, and you might be soon confronted, but as long as someone usually explains that they got a hat/shirt/coin from a friend/family member/store and it's usually ok.

I will coin-check the "LASER BLAST" out of you when I meet you.

Only because I think the whole "challenge coin" thing is asinine to begin with. To me it's just a cool little memento, so...I give them out. :shifty:

Retired is not a civilian douche bag. Also I am a civilian so I no longer participate unless I'm really thirsty.

Depending on how people handle it, challenge is great. We had a constantly deploying Chief that always made sure his was the last out. So You'd get a free round. also handy on getting to know if the new guy is a good sport. However the bullying people into thing as never sat right with me.

Did I say "coin-check"? I meant "sack-punch".

Stupid auto-correct! :sackpunch:

Good, I kinda figured it was just the guy I encountered overreacting.

On a complete idea-hijacking note, recreating one of these for the Defiant would be great, too

I'm also going along the lines of now-a-days if you wear a shirt or hat like this, you're showing support for the military. I wouldn't go around wearing a shirt that reads, "yeah, I was there," unless you actually were, but I don't think a vet would get upset by you wearing this hat. I'm more offended by fat loser gamers who think they're Navy SEALs or know what combat is like because they play SOCOM or Call of Duty.
Also, I'd buy one of these as well. It'll go along well with my loud speaker for the Flagg. (Chesty Puller is rolling over in his grave now...)
