I try to use Modern Era, but maybe something like 25E (25th-Era) could work .

I still call them 25th myself.

ME stands for "Windows Millennium Edition" as far as I'm concerned.

It would basically have to be a revolving term and the current style referred to differently again. So I've still stuck to 25th until I see something else.

Same here. In twenty years, will we say "the New Sculpt Era was followed by the Modern Era, then the Ooh, Shiny era, the Post-Modern Era, Post-Post-Modern Era, etc"? It just seems short sighted to call it something that only applies to the current. I think 25th makes more sense since that was the line that debuted this era.

These are the terms I use for classifying what has been and current:

Vintage or Original - The original 12" figures

Real American Hero or RAH - The original 3 3/4"

Savage - Sgt. Savage

Extreme - Extreme

Collectors Era - The Toys R Us figures and Walmart/Big Lots stuff just before the New Sculpt

New Sculpt - JvC, SpyTroops, etc.

Sigma 6 - Sigma 6

25E or 25th - Current

That's totally a matter of opinion. And also totally incorrect.

Whoops! See what I mean?

You know, I'm not usually too concerned about labels, but I found out the amusing way that other people are when I listed an RoC Kamakura on eBay last year. I used various keywords in the title to help folks who might search using different criteria and one, at the end, was "25th."

The listing was up a very short time before I received "a question about your item." There was no salutation or anything, just "This is NOT a 25th Anniversary figure."

My reply was: "And this is NOT a question. Did you have one?"

He accused me of creating a deliberately misleading description and told me I could be reported to eBay.

I explained very briefly that the designation was there to help the large contingent of more casual collectors and enthusiasts who tend to use "25th-style" as a catch-all descriptor for the modern construction. He replied that no legitimate collector would do that. I told him he didn't need to worry about it since I was blocking him from bidding on any of my auctions.

I've said before and will say again, these are toys people. Let's lighten up a bit.

25A is all you need. It describes an entire engineering format, regardless of packaging. Nobody argues about the RAH figs that came on weirdly-named packaging when discerning a fig from that engineering format period with its corresponding figure in another format. So why should we care about packaging issues when discerning the current engineering format figures from that RAH period's figures? 25A, RoC, PoC, Renegades, Resolute, 30A, etc, etc, etc are all nitpicky classes of the packaging moreso than of an 'era' in the history.

If you're talking about the engineering era, 25A is all you need for everyday lingo, imho.

Same goes for the whole JvC format era, too.

The problem with the name Modern Era is that if Hasbro ever tries another standard sculpting style, ME will no longer apply.

Yet, we have new sculpts now, and still the "New Sculpt" label applies to the VvV, Spy Troops, etc....

I think Modern Era (ME) will hold up quite nicely to define a 5 year or so period (2007 until....)

Once Hasbro does present us with a new sculpt, that bridge can be crossed when we come to it.

the '97 - '10 origin molds( comic, tru exclusives, collector series, etc) would still be Mark1s
everything else new sculpt for t-crotch to DTC would be Mark 2s

Same. It's ARAH , New sculpt and 25th for me. It really is that simple.
