Great poll idea.

I am kind of surprised to see that much love for Jinx. It is definitely a cool figure, but not one of my most-excited-for figures. I kind of have to wonder if that is the consensus we would find among all boards or if it is specific to this board. Joecustoms has always celebrated creativity and she is probably the biggest departure from the way we already knew these characters. I guess Surefire is also pretty new, but I don't think his previous designs were as concrete.

Big Boa looks great: a simple character but done faithfully to the character and previous figure.

TNT is a nice variation and I love the colors, though he would be more fresh if we didn't already get two Blowtorch's.

I have a thing for bright colors, so I must say that Dice is a standout for me as well.

Besides Jinx and Topside, the others are little too boring for my tastes. I probably wouldn't pick them up if they were at retail. Considering these will be twice that, it's hard to find the subscription worth it.

A boxset like the upcoming Marauders/Dreadnoks would have been awesome...

I think that is the problem people are having. Almost every one of these could fit into a box set.

Tan Grunt should be in a set with other Tan characters: Clutch, some *tan* shirts, etc

Make a Ninja Set: Jinx, Dice, Slice, Slash, and a couple of Ninja-Vipers

None of these jumps out as the premier, elite figures that are a step up above what the standard is for retail.

For a subscription service, every figure should be showcase quality, with everything about it ramped up.

See that's just part of my problem with these figures. You stand any of these sub figs up next to that new Airtight or Lifeline, and almost all of them are inferior to Hasbro's retail offerings. Scarcity doesn't matter for "LASER BLAST" if the figures aren't as good, so they in no way, by any justification, are worth the money.

Lance nails it on the head for me.

I see a lot of speculation of their "value" later on, but since I could give a rip about the percieved value of a childrens toy, these aren't worth jack. All they've really done is given me a shot in the arm to make some customs.

The speculation on their value is pretty pointless. Of course they'll be valuable. They're limited items. They'll be valuable just for that reason, not because they're good. I guarantee that figures like Jinx and Big Boa will go for a lot on the secondary market while figures like Tan Grunt wont go for nearly as much.

I agree that they pale in comparison to Hasbro's offerings. But I never expected them to do that. There's only so much you can do with Frankensteined bodies and new heads. All I was really expecting to get out of this sub were decent figures that really didn't have any option of being produced otherwise. Certainly many of them are easy customs, but these I don't have to make myself or worry about the flaws that can come with customs. I can definitely understand why people would find these to be a poor value, but for me, I can either get the Club's Big Boa, make a Big Boa myself, or have no Big Boa at all in the current format. Probably ever. Since we still don't have a price, I can't say with 100% certainty, but for me, it's worth it to shell out the cash. I have more than enough custom ideas I'm not actually producing without adding these twelve (well, really 9 or so) characters to the list. Believe me, if I thought there was any way we'd see any of these at a cheaper price, I'd skip this in a heartbeat, but I just don't see that happening.

Y'know, we say we want less ninjas and more military realism, then Jinx, Dice, and Big Boa top our list of figures we are most excited about.

There is definitely a point to it and you reiterated it. A lot of the discussion regarding these has been geared toward the dollar risk. And as you said (and I was trying to really detail), they will be valuable.

So really, there is very little risk to dollars. It is just a question of which figures you plan to keep and if you can or want to have the rest of the money tied up.

I think buying individuals is still supporting the project. But if you are not planning to keep the whole set, it makes sense to think it through before the subscription deadline. And I have added my very-open-to-debate guesses as to value.

I'm just surprised Tan Grunt has 3 votes. That is 3 more votes than I thought he would have. And Sure Fire I thought would have more than 1 person who likes it.

Doesn't that beg the question of who on this list should be getting the "military realism" vote? I didn't see any, least not that can hold a candle to the main line figs, which I can easily go buy at Wal-mart for $6.97. Minus that option, I voted Jinx, as she at least gives me something unique.

Then again, I'm with Lance on this one.

Topside and Tan Grunt are probably the most military realistic. Unfortunately they are also the two most uninspired looking figures. Barrel Roll isn't that much better but scores a few extra points for the back pack which is the least realistic part.

yeah, that was my point too, pluv. If they had made any effort on that side of things, the poll might be a bit more balanced.

Also, I'm firmly in the 'tired of ninjas' camp, but I voted Jinx because I'm also firmly in the 'need more interesting female figures' camp, and that camp trumps the other.

'Tired of ninjas' could easily be tired of Storm Shadow though, for me. At least most Snake Eyes figures can be easily adapted to other militaristic looking characters. If they want to add a few ninja characters who don't get love otherwise, I don't begrudge that at all (even if I'm not inclined to buy them myself).

Add me to the list of guys that agree with Lance. I'm thinking I'll just wait for a clearance sale, just like the DTC figures.

It's funny, I asked the club on facebook about the DTC figures and how they are 2 for $28.99 and they gave me a story about these figures have more parts and labour costs have gone up in China, etc.... Basically they were saying "yeah, DTC sucks. You should be buying our new product for twice as much..." At least that is how I read their response.

For the record, if you really want to get somewhere with the club, ask them questions on facebook. At least on facebook they respond quickly.
