I like Topside as an underused character. I think this is a fine figure... not even close to getting me to consider the subscription. They need to start debuting some "wow" figures or this is dead on the vine.

nevermind how totally lazy the figure itself is, I have to question: why Topside?

None of the 1990 Joes have been remade in 25th/modern style yet, right? Why start with Topside!? So many other memorable rookie Joes that year and they pick Topside. The hell. Pathfinder, Bullhorn, Stretcher, Rampart, or Ambush would have been far better choices to fill this slot in the subscription.

Don't forget Salvo!

Odds are they went with Topside specifically so they could just slap a different head and helmet on Shipwreck and call it a day. ;-)

No offense guys but he looks neat, complimented adequatly and is an underused character to boot, multiple wins here. Y'all really expect the world from these people.

Proper rolled-up sleeves and boots instead of bell bottoms and a rocket launcher is "the world" now?

Well YES if they are going to charge their normal $20 fig a price for something people can do easily with parts out there. They put NO effort into it so they can make bucks... So why not expect the world when they charge so much...

I really like topside and would love an updated version, but I know this is going to be $24.99 (below $25) so no way.

The one hope is the reaction is so negitive he might be able to be grabbed on the cheap 2nd hand.

Don't these Subscription figures seem like second rate customs?

Yeah these first 3 sure do. Glorified, expensive, factory made customs.

One word that comes to mind: uninspired. Really wouldn't be hard to make a proper version of the character with parts that are already around.

Edit: Also, are they only showing off one figure during NYCC?

I'm giving the club the benefit of the doubt here. They always reveal their weakest figures first. In this case I think they are revealing them based on how easy it is to manufacture. The first ones were repaints. The next only has a new head. They don't have final pricing because they probably don't have final product yet.

The first three aren't worth 25. But if the list holds true there will be later revealed ones with more new tooling. So the lower production costs of these will be offset by the higher production cost of later ones. At least, I hope so, because underwhelmed is a good word for what I'm feeling right now.

Wow. There is literally no way for me to be less interested in this figure. Until I read the topic, I'd forgotten that Topside existed. Don't get me wrong, I'm actually happy about this. I'm dreading that they'll release a few subscription figures I'll actually want, and I'll have to shell out ridiculous money on the secondary market if I want to own them.

i dig it.

i'm also hoping that the final 'reveals' will be so jaw-dropping that i won't feel bad amortizing the cost of some of the ones i don't like so much being offset by the ones i gotta have .... weak speak, but true ...

Not impressed.

Why Topside?

Why not a NIGHT FORCE figure? Or Budo? Shortfuse? Or, even better, a completely new and original character.
